What reviewers say

Many visitors praise the friendly and attentive staff, with some receiving unexpected room upgrades that made their stays special. However, the spa facilities are frequently described as outdated, poorly maintained, and not worth the price, with issues like dirty pools, cold jacuzzis, and out-of-order steam rooms being common complaints.

Although The the hotel is lovely, the breakfast is great and the grounds are beautiful - its the staff that make this hotel a very special place. On reception we were looked after by Steph, Lisa and Charlie theyre such a great asset to the hotel . Always smiling, and helpful no matter how busy they were and nothing was ever too much trouble. We cant praise them enough!! We even stayed longer than origjnally planned! Thanks for making our stay stress free and memorable . Looking forward to our next one!

Lovely hotel, excellent checking in service by lisy, I arrive early and she sorted a slightly earlier check in for me with no issues. My room is great size, witha decking area outback, given Im using is as an office to 2days I can’t complain with the view room 133, its clean tidy and clearly looking at the name on the card Donna is to thank for that

The reason I chose this hotel was simple: I had stayed there about 30 years ago with my family. So, I was excited for the chance to revisit Sheffield and the same hotel, even though it had changed from a Swallow Hotel to a Mercure. Unfortunately, during my two-night stay starting Friday, there were parties on both nights. I could hear the noise from my room—especially the heavy bass from the music—until 11:40 pm on Friday and 12:20 am on Sunday morning(Saturday night). The volume was much louder than I expected. It felt like a lottery: whether there is a party or whether your room is near the restaurant. I guess I just got unlucky this time. Also, my room wasn’t cleaned even though I hung the "Gone Exploring" sign on the door. The receptionist gave me fresh towels because the housekeeping staff had already gone home. The room itself was fine and looked clean. The building itself and the large garden were wonderful. It sadly took me a while to jog my memory of my previous stay, but I seemed to find the same or similar features that were in my old photos/memories. Anyway, I was happy that I could stay at the same hotel for the first time in about 30 years.

We've stayed at Mercure Sheffield Kenwood Hall Hotel & Spa a couple of times now. The staff are friendly and very helpful especially Lisa on the front desk. It's great to have use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam rooms plus the pretty grounds and lake. WiFi is a bit iffy in the rooms but I am sure the management will be improving this asap.

We had our wedding at Kenwood Hall back in April, the whole events team and reception team are incredible and they worked so hard to help make our dream wedding a reality. A special mention to Chantel and Bev for help in the lead up to the wedding, then the team who helped set up on the day, Terry was amazing the morning of our wedding helping to set everything up in our rooms, Lisa and Nicki on reception were so helpful with us and our guests, helping with whatever we needed to get things ready, Anisha and Holly, wow what an absolute dream team coordinating our wedding on the day. We had the night before package, and the glam room to get ready, food was incredible and rooms were lovely. The bridal suite in the old Kenwood house is just beautiful ! Thank you so much for helping to make our dream wedding become a reality. We’re looking forward to visiting again in future for anniversaries !

I’d like to give a special mention to Chloe, who served us dinner this evening. She was absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She checked on us regularly throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. The food was fantastic, beautifully prepared and full of flavour, which made for a wonderful dining experience. Chloe’s excellent service really added to the evening and made us feel well looked after. Thank you for helping make our stay so enjoyable!
