Birch Resort Port Douglas

We had a great time at Port Douglas. These rooms are nice, without being terribly expensive. We stayed here for four days while exploring different areas around town. The owners/caretakers were friendly, and the pool was nice. You are within a few minutes drive of the main tourist street and the harbor to get out on the reef. Short 20-30 minute drive to the daintree, mossman gorgeous, or hartleys. While certainly nothing fancy, it made a great hub for our adventure and would certainly stay here again if I was in the area. If you are looking for a place to explore from, I would recommend staying here.

Overnight stay was only$110. You get what you pay for I suppose. Room was clean, not overly comfortable and well overdue a little painting and repairs. If we were looking at a longer stay it would not be in our reckoning. We were, though, warmly greeted by our hostess.

Very clean and spacious bedrooms! The host are also incredibly kind. What more could you ask for? I would stay there again anytime!

Lol this place has been looking for caretakers for over a year... They pay 300 per day for couples (total), no wonder why it's falling apart lols. Good luck

The room itself is very spacious, the bed was comfortable and it had a brand new blanket. Things that needed attention: Safety concerns: •The doors did not lock between the adjoining rooms (6 and 7) • smoke alarm detector was hanging open with no battery, i saw a review from September that stated the same, not sure if it was the same room. a friend was in unit 5 and had no smoke detector at all, another friend in unit 4 had detector. General: The room was not clean, finger nails, clumps of hair, dust balls in the main room. Bathroom still had toothpaste in the sink, on tiles and mirror in bathroom Sink countertop had not been cleaned. The bed felt like it may have had a broken slat, sleep on other side. Two very flat pillows for a king twin, was not enough, had to use both pillows, folded in half. No one was on site when we arrived but once we made contact, with someone in Townsville, the manager (?) did return, she was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I did not see her on site again (over 3 days) the reception remained locked. A temporary manager (?, we were told) did pop by on the last day, to clean the room as she thought we were checking out. Wifi did not work in rooms, but could outside. There looked like there may have been a cafe or restaurant type area, part way under construction/deconstruction (hard to tell which) The gardens that the sliding door of the rooms open out to, need a bit of love and care, same with the other shared area’s, kitchen, laundry etc. Patches of slimey water along the main walkway outside rooms. Pool was lovely, new pool lounges and umbrella’s. To call it a resort, may be going a little too far in its present condition and state.

The rooms are clean and new inside, with new aircon units. The pool is in nice shape, but there is not a drop of shade. Exterior, office and grounds are pretty tatty, and the restaurant/bar area is gutted for renovation. I give the rooms an A for the price, and everything else is a C.

Good location, spacious room, clean bathroom and nice pool. Management was very kind and generous to give us local advice which was very cool. Good areas to eat, just a walk away. Only issue was insects in room but i believe can't avoid them in tropical climate.

This was the perfect place for a getaway in Port Douglas! Corinne was very hands on and available whenever needed. We will definitely be back :)

Had a great overnight stay. Was very quiet. The pool was lovely. The room was very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice apartment for the price, close to the centre and clean.

The room was comfortable, parking was easy, the pool was lovely. There is a camp kitchen, the only downside was people smoking right outside it. It’s about 2.5k from the centre of town. It looks like they’re in the midst of renovating the place so it’ll be good to come back and see how it turns out.
