À propos de ce lieu Amaru

Amaru is a fine-dining restaurant at 1121 High Street in Armadale, about 7km south-east of Melbourne's CBD. It serves a set tasting menu built on seasonal Australian produce. It is a mainstream restaurant with no particular LGBTQ+ angle, listed here as a well-reviewed special-occasion option in a city where same-sex couples can eat out comfortably anywhere. Google rates it 4.7 from about 550 reviews. It sits in the top price bracket, and bookings are essential. For dinner with a queer crowd, Fitzroy and Collingwood, about 25 minutes away by tram, have the gay bars and diners.

I can't find fault with this place. We probably made it a bit harder for the chefs with a couple of the dietary requirements (I think we ended up with (mostly) the vegetarian meal), but it was excellent across the board. In many cases I feel like it took longer to explain the food than to eat it, but the techniques, flavours and ingredients used were all of a high standard. Maybe my pallette isn't sophisticated enough to get all of the ingredients and flavours (I think something was pickled in elderflower vinegar... I'm sure the elderflower was bringing much to the party), but I can't complain. The place itself is quiet with comfortable chairs and (surprisingly) well-lit (which is definitely a plus). Service staff were all excellent with the chefs presenting most of the dishes themselves.

The sensory menu at the Chef’s counter was such a memorable and enjoyable experience. I also really appreciate the chefs for the thoughtful and delicious changes they made to accommodate my dietary restrictions while pregnant.

I am lucky to travel around the world to over 50 countries to experience the top Michelin and highly awarded restaurants. Amaru is a 3 chef hat restaurant and deserves the accolades it has been awarded. A wonderful dining experience (degustation with matching wines) and faultless, professional and engaging service. Wines (the unknown path choice) chosen were balanced and perfectly matched each course and elevated the experience. You can tell the staff are passionate about what they do and knowledgeable which rubs off on the guests and enhances the whole experience.
