L'Hôtel Tolarno

I would give 0 stars if possible, disgusting, old, dark, musty, rotting carpet, cigarette burns in the bedding. I don't know how this place has a 4 star rating. Photos on the website are NOTHING like what we turned up to. Horrific

My partner and I stayed here for my birthday and overall it was a really lovely experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and filled with so much artwork, which I absolutely loved—it gave the whole place a really unique feel. We stayed in the Philippe room with a balcony, which was really nice. The view was good, just not very high up, but still enjoyable. The room itself was comfortable and well set up, with a comfy bed, a decent-sized TV, and handy amenities like a mini fridge, microwave, plates, cutlery, towels, and even milk, tea, and coffee with mugs and wine glasses. There were just a few small downsides. There wasn’t any shampoo provided—only two bottles of conditioner—and the body wash, conditioner, and soap were all quite small (only one small soap too). Some of the TV channels didn’t work, although there were still plenty of good ones available. The staff were very nice and helpful, and we really appreciated that they let us check out a bit later (11am instead of 10am). The location was also great. There are lots of food options nearby—we went to an Italian restaurant across the road called Topolino’s which was amazing and highly recommend it. We also went to Banff down the street for breakfast/brunch, and their pizza was really good. There’s also a Woolworths and a BWS close by, which was super convenient. The tram is easy to access too, making it simple to get around—we went to Luna Park and the beach, both of which were really nice. Overall, it was a great stay and a lovely place to celebrate my birthday. My partner and I both enjoyed it and would definitely consider staying again.

I got there and there was a painting in the lobby that isn't appropriate for children and the floor creeks upstairs and the room was the worst besides the big hideous paintings the shower door hits the sink and the utensils were dirty and the kettle was dirty and there was rubbish under the bed and there was paint peeling off the walls and the walls near the window was cracked and there was a outdoor light in the room and the hallway floor was uneven it felt like it was going to break and the floor felt dirty and the seats was uncomfortable and I look through the window expecting a great view like advertised but all I seen was another building and the bedside lamp had a cracked in it and the cable for the lamp was easily accessible for children which is a hazard it was the worst hotel experience I had and the room was smelly.

Steven the hotel manager is amazing. He is one of the most hard working men I have ever seen. I hope he is getting payed well because his service to customers is outstanding. He has bent of backwards in my time here. Steven is Tolarno hotel. 5 stars for Steven.

Management always Courteous and Obliging..Rooms Comfortable

Stayed here for a quick work trip. Really easy and comfortable accommodation. Nothing too fancy, but for the price it's great! Clean rooms, comfy bed, great location in St Kilda and really good service! Recommend if you need a spot for a short period.

The best location and good staff

As good as a basic hotel will be, no bells and whistles. Abit overpriced for what you get but you can't faulter the location
