The rooms are spacious, the staff are helpful, and room service is fast. I use this hotel frequently, but occasionally the cleaning is sloppy.
The amenities are incredibly comprehensive. The cleaning was also quite thorough, and there was nothing particularly concerning. (I'm not particularly picky, so this is just a quick glance.) Depending on the room category, it might be different, but it was very spacious and even had a high-end massage chair. I went on a weekday after 2 PM and was surprised to see that it was 70-80% full, but I understand why.
It had been decades since I'd been to Tateishi Park. I used both the built-in navigation and Google Maps, but it was surprisingly difficult to get there. (The embankment roads around there are tricky, the navigation is often wrong, and it gets hard to find in the dark. I think it would have been easier to set the destination to one of the nearby FamilyMart, Shimamura, or Geo stores before heading to the hotel.) It was probably the most reasonably priced room. It's more expensive than a love hotel, small, and not very relaxing. I prefer love hotels to business hotels or inns. I paid in advance for the overnight stay and went out to a popular yakiniku restaurant nearby. As soon as I entered the room, I could use the member discount ticket, the phone service was good, the instructions for going out were easy to understand, and the meals and drinks were a good deal. If there hadn't been any issues, it would have been a 5-star rating, but there were a few minor shortcomings, so I'm giving it a -1, making it a 4. That was because there was a used teaspoon and saucer. At first glance, even looking at the photos, I hardly noticed any signs of use until I actually used it. I thought the previous guest did a great job of erasing all traces of use and returning it to the same condition (see photo). The essence of the hospitality industry is being able to erase all traces of the previous guest's presence. Even so, if I ever have the opportunity to use a hotel near Suwa, I would definitely consider staying here again. It's more than adequate, so I'm giving it a 4 this time (๑´ڡ`๑)
I've used this hotel several times as a base for touring the Venus Line. The room rates are inexpensive, the facilities are luxurious, and the cleaning is thorough. The private saunas in the rooms are especially appreciated by riders visiting this area at night. The quality of the food is far superior to other hotels of this type in the same price range, yet the prices are incredibly reasonable. The breakfast, which requires reservations, is delicious and costs only 300 yen. Alcoholic beverages are free for members for the first drink, and only 250 yen for subsequent drinks, allowing you to enter empty-handed and enjoy as much food and drink as you like. Membership is available from the day of arrival. Furthermore, the food and drinks are served covered with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, demonstrating a high level of hygiene awareness, which is highly commendable. Overall, it's a wonderful place to stay, and I will definitely use it again for any multi-day touring trips in the Nagano area.
I stayed in room 209, but the refrigerator wasn't cold, I couldn't watch WOWOW, and there was hair in the bathtub, which was really unpleasant! I love Mystic and stay there often, but there were no disposable chopsticks or towels provided, so I was disappointed with the cleaning. I wish they'd clean it properly!
