We stayed for one night after camping in Abel Tasman for three days, longing for some comfort and cleanliness. The hut was very clean and the location was lovely, and the price did match the quality, but it did not live up to our expectations. Especially since it is being advertised as a four star accommodation. For example the shower doors weren’t sealed, so the bathroom would flood every time you use the shower. The bathroom door slides, but it can slide all the way into the wall, making it very hard to close the door again. The cabinets in our hut were quite dusty. The huts are also quite close together and the main windows face the path everyone uses, so there is little privacy if the huts are all booked. The communal laundry machine wasn’t very clean. The pictures led us to believe our hut would have an outside bath, but this was not the case. The outside bath was shared and not as pictured, it was surrounded by old metal sheets, weeds and cobwebs. We wanted to use the communal BBQ, but it didn’t work. There was no fresh bread: in the morning the bread from yesterday was still lying there. Finally, for a four star hotel, a check-out time of 10 am is very early. Over all it felt more like staying in a serviced cabin on a campsite, rather than a hotel-like experience. Still, for the price, it is a lovely site.
We had a lovely stay in Appleby after our three-day hike on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. The outdoor bath was a real treat. The cabins are charming, and the beds are comfortable. The thoughtful touches at breakfast (bread, peanut butter, butter, tea, and coffee provided) were a significant bonus. This peaceful stay did us a world of good, and we highly recommend it.
Amazing place. The location was perfect and quiet. The glamping tent had an amazing view and the amenities were top notch. I will keep this place on the top of my list when I’m in this area for sure.
Finally a place with all the hooks you could ever need: in the rooms, bathrooms, and throughout the property. The attention to detail is outstanding, and everything was spotless, including the bathrooms and shared kitchen. Lovely complimentary touches like toast, milk, and coffee made the stay feel very welcoming. The outdoor area is beautiful, with well-looked-after native gardens, and the sauna was a real highlight, perfect for late evenings and cooling off under the stars during breaks. The cabins were clean and thoughtfully set up, with fresh towels, and warming blankets. The price was very reasonable for what you get. Overall, a fantastic stay highly recommended.
This is one of the best places we stayed during more than month vacation. The huts are so lovely decorated and everything what you needed is there. The whole place is very peaceful and close to a great beach.(Car ride 5 min.) The shared kitchen fully equipped and has free fresh bread and milk. Wooden sauna, fireplace. We had a great relaxing time. Wish we had more time.
Absolutely lovely!! Great accommodations …excellent kitchen …and thanks for the great bread!!!
