Divine Comedie

Well, our first impression was not great as the hotel had no record of our 28 day booking via hotels.com when we arrived, tired, at 7:30pm. But it was hotels.com fault (they have admitted so and will compensate us fully) not the hotel. The hotel manager said they had 27 nights from the next day and offered to put us up in his home - but then did find another hotel for the first night. Divine Comedie is a a well situated and well run hotel. We stayed in a bungalow which was very spacious and cleaned well every day. The pool is beautiful with a swimming pool up bar. And the bar and restaurant itself is open all day with a good choice of food. The hotel is right on a beach which we walk the 2km length of every morning. At high tide it does involve walking for 1 minute either sea water about 30cm deep at most to get around one area. There is publicly owned, free, gym equipment on the pier which is a 5 minute walk along the beach. Lots of restaurants, shops, laundry and massage places, etc on one doorstep. Sunset views at 6:30. The one downside is the road - no noise for bungalow users here, but not pleasant to walk along to eat or shop with too many motor cycles travelling too fast along. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

We arrived at the Divine Comedie hotel yesterday and were already very disappointed by the first impression. The reception area looked run-down, the seating was heavily stained and dirty, and the overall appearance was neglected. The staff seemed uninterested and unmotivated. On the way to our room, this impression only worsened. The entire property appears poorly maintained, dirty, and clearly neglected. The room itself was superficially cleaned, but overall extremely shabby, with stains everywhere, unpleasant smells, dirty windows, and a completely filthy rooftop terrace. The photos on Booking.com do not reflect the actual condition of the hotel at all. When we raised our concerns, the hotel manager reacted defensively and unprofessionally. Instead of taking guest feedback seriously and reflecting on the obvious maintenance and cleanliness issues — which we are clearly not the only guests to have noticed — he appeared personally offended by our criticism. Rather than showing any willingness to improve the situation or address the problems, he was dismissive and unwilling to engage constructively. This is not the attitude one would expect from a hotel manager, who should be open to justified feedback and motivated to implement necessary improvements. The only solution offered was a room change, which we declined, as it was obvious that the entire property is in this condition and that our issue would not have been resolved by switching rooms. We therefore decided not to stay even one night, as my wife was not willing to sleep in that bed under these conditions. Despite not using the accommodation at all, we were refused any refund. This was justified by the cancellation policy, even though the service provided did not match what was advertised. A partial or goodwill refund was also denied. We are currently pursuing the matter through Booking.com. Additionally, the pool and lounge areas were poorly maintained, including an extremely unpleasant portable toilet. The restaurant also appeared dirty and run-down. The rooms smelled bad. Overall, this hotel is absolutely not recommended. We strongly advise future guests to avoid this place.

We stayed at this boutique hotel for 11 nights. We had one family room and one double room. It's comfortable, well-located, and has a nice pool area and bar. It could use a bit of maintenance overall; some of the staff are friendly, while others are practically invisible 🤣. The family room on the ground floor is comfortable, but it sometimes smelled like sewage; perhaps some ventilation would be helpful. The double room was upstairs and right next to the street, so it was a bit noisy, but nothing out of the ordinary. Daily cleaning was acceptable. The price is reasonable for what the hotel offers.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel. We were a family of 4. The room we stayed in was lovely and spacious, however there was never enough hot water for the family. After two quick showers we would have to wait an hour for more hot water. We also stayed in a family room next to reception and could hear the water pump switch on and off the all day and night. This sound was very loud and irritating.

Pros: • Beachfront location with easy access to the beach. While the beach itself is not very long (limited by a pier on one side and a river mouth on the other), it is still pleasant for short walks. • Swimming pool is available. It does not appear to have a permanent filtration system, but during my stay it was cleaned, refilled, and treated with chlorine, so some maintenance is clearly done. • Spacious room with a nice view from the balcony. • The room is well equipped and even offers extras: a private iron and ironing board (a big plus), as well as a coffee machine. • Check-in was smooth despite arriving in the evening. Reception is not staffed late, but bar staff assisted with the process without any issues. Booking in advance definitely helped. Cons: • The beach is too short for long walks, especially if you enjoy extended seaside strolls. • Coffee capsules from the minibar are overpriced (around 80 THB per capsule). • Noise insulation of the doors is weak. The hotel is located on a busy street, and rooms facing the road—especially on the second floor and not in bungalows—can be very noisy. I had to buy earplugs at 7-Eleven to be able to sleep properly. • Reception is not staffed in the evening; for check-in and questions, you need to go to the restaurant/bar area. Overall, the hotel is decent and comfortable, with some clear strengths and a few important details to keep in mind when choosing a room.
