À propos de ce lieu Fatumaru Lodge Vanuatu

Fatumaru Lodge is a small lodge on the Kumul Highway in Port Vila, Vanuatu's capital. It's a mainstream place to stay that is listed here as gay-friendly. It isn't a gay venue, and Port Vila has no real gay scene to speak of. Guests give it a 4.6 on Google from roughly 160 reviews, which is a good score for the island. We don't have details on room types, meals or transfers, so check those directly before you book. Vanuatu is socially conservative, so most couples here keep public affection low-key.

Very comfortable stay, lovely view and a great location to stroll to restaurants. We were only overnight but really enjoyed the Beach Bar for dinner down the road, great vibe. We would definitely stay again.

We spent four wonderful nights at this lovely lodge to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary, and we truly couldn’t have chosen a better place. The location is fantastic, right in front of the ocean, with beautiful views. The room is a little dated, but it was spotlessly clean, cosy, and cleverly designed with everything neatly fitted into a compact space. We had originally hoped to stay upstairs because many reviews recommended the second floor, but we ended up in the far-left room on the ground floor. As it turned out, we absolutely loved it. The room was incredibly convenient, and because there was no fence blocking the deck, we had an unobstructed view of the ocean. The view was simply stunning, especially from the bed. We also had no issues with noise from the room above. On our first night, we could hear quite a lot of talking from the neighbouring room, which initially made us worry about the rest of our stay. Fortunately, those guests checked out the next day, and the new guests were no problem at all. The kitchen is compact and functional, but there are a few things to be aware of. There is no mixing bowl, colander, can opener, spatula or ladle, so I would recommend bringing these if you plan to cook. There is also only one small saucepan. A knife and kitchen scissors were provided, although we brought our own and therefore didn’t use them, so I can’t comment on how sharp they were. The kitchenware included two large Western-style plates, two deep soup bowls, and two coffee cups with saucers. The deep soup bowls were surprisingly useful — we used them for cereal at breakfast, noodle soup for lunch, and even as salad bowls at dinner. The bathroom was clean and a good size, and we were very happy with it. The only minor inconvenience was the lack of a shower curtain, which meant the bathroom floor became quite wet every time we showered. We also spent a wonderful day enjoying the swimming pool. Even better, we could step straight out from our room and enjoy SUP and kayaking almost every day. The water became increasingly clear as we got closer to town, and the ocean was absolutely beautiful. One of our favourite little surprises was a lovely cat who visited us every day .As animal lovers, we were delighted to have our daily furry visitor. The location is also very convenient. You can easily walk from the lodge to town and the markets, and there are several restaurants nearby. We particularly enjoyed Stonegrill and the bar next door. Both had beautiful views, the steak was delicious, and the cocktails were wonderfully presented — even served in coconut shells. Buses also came frequently, so getting around was very easy and we never felt inconvenienced. But the absolute highlight of our stay was the view from the bed. Waking up to that beautiful ocean view every morning was something we will never forget. We had such a wonderful time here, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery, ocean activities and all the little things that made our stay special. We are genuinely so happy that we chose this lodge for our anniversary. We would definitely love to stay here again on our next visit to Vanuatu. ❤️ Thank you for giving us such a memorable 32nd wedding anniversary stay.

***Construction alert July 2026*** 6-9 months ago we planned an extended family trip here and booked 5 rooms. Upon arrival we were informed by a piece of paper wrapped around our door key that there would be construction from 9-630pm every day during our stay, including weekends. This meant we could not enjoy the facilities at all due to the noise. This construction is being done by Fatumaru Lodge. I asked for a reduction in our nightly rates which I think would have been fair given that we did not get what we paid for. It was refused. We were given breakfast and some beers to compensate for this, which we were grateful for, however it doesn’t fully compensate for the disappointment that our family trip with elderly parents was severely impacted by the noise. The one bedroom room we stayed in is worth approximately $50-$70 AUD a night but we were charged just under $200. Location is along a noisy unattractive road. If you don’t have to come to Vanuatu, don’t come here at all, go anywhere else. It’s crazily expensive, not set up for tourists and quite an unsatisfying trip. Bali is better by 1000%. On a brighter note, the beds are really comfortable and view would be nice if it wasn’t destroyed by the noise. UPDATE in response to hotel feedback: the excavation work was over the entire trip from the day we all checked in until the day we checked out, not half the trip. We were offered a refund if we cancelled the rest of our trip, however as we had booked 5 rooms with 5 families it would not have been possible to coordinate such a move mid way through school holidays. We have since moved on to Noumea and it’s been absolutely fantastic.

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to help, which made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, with beautiful views that made our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The location was also excellent—conveniently close to the main road and bus stops, making it easy to get around. We’d definitely love to come back and highly recommend this place!
