Felixx is the bar that defines Vienna's bear and masculine gay scene — occupying one of the converted railway arches under the Gürtel elevated ring road, a setting that combines industrial character with surprising comfort. The arches were repurposed into bars and clubs in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and Felixx has been one of the anchor venues ever since, building a community of bears, cubs, leather men, and masculine-presenting gay men that is one of the most welcoming of its type in Central Europe. The bar is large by Vienna standards — the arch format allows for a proper interior space with bar seating, standing areas, and the occasional outdoor area when weather permits. Regular themed nights include bear parties, uniform and leather events, and the social calendar of the wider European bear community passes through here. The Gürtel location is slightly removed from the Naschmarkt bar district but easily accessible by tram along the ring road, and the separation contributes to the sense of having arrived somewhere specific rather than simply extended the walk from one bar to the next.
