The Braderie de Lille is one of Europe's great street events — the world's largest flea market, filling the entire city centre on the first weekend of September with 10,000 stands and two million visitors. The event is not specifically LGBTQ+, but Lille's gay bars and venues around Vieux-Lille are in the thick of the action: Le Club and La Cigale stay open extended hours, and the general festive atmosphere makes this one of the best weekends of the year to visit. The braderie tradition also involves eating moules-frites (mussels and fries) — the city's signature dish.
