Hotel shut down for week days. Only open on sunday for carvery. If uve booked an event here cancel it or enquire about it on a sunday. No management on site. Used to be a brilliant place. Doesnt take guests any more. The last few months has really declined.

I went here for my brothers wedding in April. I was the best man. We arrived at the hotel and their was a delay organising the rooms so bags had to be left by reception. Eventually we were assigned rooms but I was assigned the wrong room as the best man. Our assigned room was meant to be in the new part (if their is one) instead I was assigned the old part of the hotel. The room I was assigned was dated, old and down right disgusting. The bathroom had mould all over the place to the point that I refused to shower in the bathroom in case I got ill and so did those I stayed with. Later on in the day, we went to the ceremony room which on first glance was laid out beautifully; there was a glass slide separating the ball room from the ceremony room which we noticed was broken and cracked. The glass in the corner had missing little pieces. Just before food was being served, the manager called my brother and his wife to cut the cake because they were short on time and didn’t have time to serve food. Due to poor staff attendance. Only for I overheard the conversation hardly no photos or videos were taken of the cake cutting. Their was me, the photographer, videographer, and the hotel manager. No other guests witnessed the cake being cut! They were all outside. The entire occasion was rushed! Absolutely scandalous. The hotel was under staffed for my brothers wedding by 5 people who were a no show. This delayed food. The Prosecco was due to be served at the reception; my brother and his wife paid for the Prosecco and paid for it to be served. This didn’t happen. They filled the glasses once and never refilled them from the bottles that were bought and left behind. The food served was bland and tasteless. They never came to the top table to take orders for food. Instead they brought two plates of food and basically said which would you like. The plate not chosen was literally dying in the girls hand and was brought to somebody else to choose from. Many guests did not eat or even finish the food with plates of food being sent back due to the terrible food standard being served. The breakfast the next morning had burnt toast and charred bacon which was hard and inedible. The quality of the food for a wedding of any description left me speechless. Their was no cash float on the day of the wedding after being promised that their would be! A couple of people got thick and very frustrated that their was no cash float after it being promised. My best friend approached me the night of the wedding and said he got drinks at the bar but there was mould on the taps where the drinks were being poured. Absolutely revolting. I saw this for myself with my own eyes. The day of the wedding alot of the guests were Smithwicks drinkers and the Smithwicks keg ran out. No effort was made to source another keg considering how close the hotel is to the Viking hotel; they could easily of borrowed a keg. The hotel had wobbly handrails and broken fixtures which was a clear let down and a hazard for older guests. Clear dust and dirt was visible throughout the rooms and the hotel. Cleanliness was shockingly bad. My brother and his wife were also due a refund 10 days after the wedding as they had over paid slightly. They are only getting this refund now and we are in September, they got married in April! Head office was refusing and delaying to issue the refund to them which is their money. Overall I would not recommend this hotel for a wedding or any occasion. My brother and his wife were ripped off with the cost of their wedding. Promises were made which were not kept. The hotel is in major need of refurbishing and the staff could do with a lesson or two in customer service considering they were laughing at my brother while he was making his speech to all the guests that turned up to HIS wedding. This was brought to my attention by guests but I couldn’t say anything as it was my brothers day! But I will have my say now! Money which he spent to have a good day. Everybody here is warned DO NOT attend or book this hotel under ANY circumstances!

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Been here for a wedding in April and we were given a room that wasn’t even meant for us — my partner was part of the bridal party, yet the “good” room was assigned to someone else. The room we ended up with was in poor shape (like many parts of the hotel): wobbly handrails, broken fixtures, and clear signs of neglect. Cleanliness was also below standard, with dust and dirt visible, to say the least. The food was absolutely terrible. For the first time in my life, I left my dinner on the table unfinished, and the breakfast the next morning was just as bad. It’s shocking that a hotel hosting weddings and events would serve food of this quality. Overall, the place feels run down, badly managed, and far from what you’d expect when booking a stay. Definitely would not recommend.
