MEININGER Milano Lambrate

Fantastic and very friendly atmosphere… thanks to Jie at reception! We all loved it, from young to old. Clean, practical, efficient. We did our car wash in a flash, super convenient.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms. The safety rail for the top bunk bed is very inadequate, so no child could sleep there. Access to public transport is very good. Breakfast was good by Italian standards.

The staff is extremely accommodating and very helpful. The hostel has a thriving energy, quite a young crowd and all very friendly, the environment creates that vibe. Rooms are convenient and clean, and the hostel has all the facilities.

This is my second time staying at the Meininger Milano Lambrate Hotel. The first time I chose a single room, a privilege you can forgo for a shared room for four, as I did my second time, paying practically a third of the price of a single. The four-bed room is always clean, with daily linen changes. The shared private bathroom is manageable. I was fortunate to have super quiet and kind roommates, discreet and quiet, with zero noise at night. The beauty of this experience is outside the room. I have to work, and in this heat, having a smart working station like the one Meininger offers is wonderful. There's plenty of power, free, and fairly fast wifi, and a coffee for a break... and it's like a ship underway with dozens of people coming and going, but it doesn't interfere with my concentration, except for a few exceptions that become opportunities for a five-minute break. The guest kitchen is a wonderful option and a great place to cook, heat up a meal, or keep perishable food in the refrigerator for a few days. Maybe an extra fridge would be useful, but it's also a question of how guests optimize the space. Some people just throw things in without any criteria, even out of respect for others, I'd say, but it's just my obsession as an orderly chef who optimizes everything in the kitchen. I've seen young people cooking pasta, overcooking it, and seasoning it with raw tomato sauce!!! Girls, eating it plain, so overcooked and unseasoned --- terrible --- but that's the beauty of a place like this, it's a beautiful dimension -- if I had the money, I'd live here for a while, perhaps touring a few cities ---- The staff is young, professional, and helpful, but with that informal, friendly touch that never hurts to make you feel at home --- they even offered me coffee --- they didn't pay me to write this review :-) PS: Small downside (which also applies to the security of your luggage/personal effects/laptop...) - the locker lock: they don't warn you that you'll need it when booking. If you choose a shared room, so you're left feeling confused. You have to buy it from the machine, or go out and look for a shop that sells it, so you pay a fortune. In my opinion, the locker lock should be updated to use the same card that opens the room door. The induction hob in the kitchen should be smarter --- you can buy 4 Lidl hobs for about 150 euros but they are easy to use, this one is complicated, it turns off by itself, it doesn't remember the settings --- LIDL HOBS are excellent, economical, smart, child-proof or elderly-proof ---- they are very safe ---- the large oven didn't work --- I saw people buy frozen pizza and leave it in the fridge to die because the oven was broken --- small details of a picky chef that don't ruin my experience --- oh then why don't you offer survival cooking workshops? How to cook pasta and make a decent sauce in 15 minutes --- ;) Smart cooking for tourists who are clumsy in the kitchen - optimize your spending to eat well and healthily like at a restaurant, in 20 minutes.
