Hôtel Cataleya

When we got to the hotel, they told us that our reservation was cancelled (we were not notified by booking). That happened at 18:30, and it wasn’t until 22:00 that the person in charge of the hotel came to see if we could find a solution. Additionally, that happened to us (group of 6) and 4 other groups of families. At the same time the manager came to talk to us, we received an email from booking that our reservation was cancelled. They said that it was not their fault and they couldn’t do anything to help us. This is something I would have never expected from a hotel and I highly recommend you to watch other options before reserving that one. My opinion is that they tried to cancel our rooms to put them back into the market at a highest price but didn’t care about us. That event ruined our trip as, by the time we realized they were not going to offer us an alternative place to sleep, all the hotels and hostels of Amsterdam and surroundings were fully booked or at prices we could not afford. If you are reading it and doubting to make a reservation here, please, take into account that paying 100 extra euros can make the difference of having a worry-free trip or like us that had to stay all night without a roof. The only one positive thing I can say about them is that on the reception there was a fantastic girl (who’s not the responsable for anything) that stood up for the hotel and for us.

They cancelled our room reservation because they oversold it, didn't notify us or refund our money, and we had to sleep on the street. The hotel manager is very unpleasant and dishonest.

We were completely dissatisfied with the service. We came here through a tour group. The rooms are small and the beds are not comfortable at all. The shower is terrible. There's no hot water; in the middle of showering, the water suddenly disappears and comes back on after 5 minutes. The infrastructure is awful; even with such a small amount of water, it overflowed, flooding the bathroom and even spilling outside. We went with a tour group, and this problem was present in all rooms; it wasn't an isolated incident. The towels were damp and very old. The breakfast had very little variety. The desserts were tasteless. The coffee machine kept breaking down. There was no water :) We asked for water, and they said it wasn't included in the breakfast. After insisting, they brought us a bottle. The toaster broke down within 3 minutes; we couldn't even use that. It was one of the worst hotels I've ever seen. I hope they fix these problems soon. The location isn't bad, but these problems are really annoying.

For short stays or just for sleeping, the hotel is perfectly fine.

The hotel is clean and tidy. It's conveniently located, about 23 km from central Amsterdam. On checkout day, there was a water problem in the morning for an unknown reason...

It's a scam! I booked two rooms through Booking.com because I was visiting the city, but there was an error with the date during the booking process. I contacted them to cancel within a minute of paying, as there was still more than a week until the reservation date. They wouldn't respond, they kept giving me the runaround, telling me to contact Booking.com, and Booking.com told me to contact them. No one refunded my money! Thieves! Scammers!

I stayed here with my wife, I booked a room, I am very satisfied with the service and the staff, highly recommended 100%
