À propos de cet événement

Amsterdam has thrown a Pride every summer for three decades, but 2026 is different: the city hosts WorldPride for the first time, and it falls on the 25th anniversary of the Netherlands becoming the first country in the world to open marriage to same-sex couples. The global edition of Pride, in the city that started legal marriage equality — that combination turns the whole place into a fifteen-day festival, from 25 July to 8 August.

The centrepiece is the Canal Parade on Saturday 1 August, the only Pride parade in the world staged on water. Around eighty decorated boats carry community groups, NGOs and floats through the canals from noon to 6pm; the 2026 route runs Oosterdok, Nieuwe Herengracht, the Amstel, the Prinsengracht and out to Westerdok. Roughly half a million people watch from the bridges and quaysides. If you want a guaranteed spot, the official WorldPride Stadium seating on the Prinsengracht is ticketed through Weeztix, but most people just claim a bridge by late morning and hold it.

Away from the water the festival has two hubs. Pride Park takes over the Vondelpark, and the WorldPride Village fills Museumplein — the square ringed by the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw — which also hosts the big ticketed shows: the UNITY Concert, the Wedding Party XXL, and the Closing Concert on 8 August. There is a human-rights conference at the Beurs van Berlage, a sports programme, and a free open-air film festival, with hundreds of smaller street parties filling the canal belt in between.

The nightlife has its own gravity. Reguliersdwarsstraat is the classic gay strip, bars and clubs shoulder to shoulder; the older scene around the Zeedijk and Warmoesstraat runs leather, bear and cruisier. During WorldPride week everything runs later and busier than usual.

Getting here and around: Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal is a direct train, about twenty minutes, and trams from Centraal reach the Vondelpark, Leidseplein and Museumplein. Early August is warm but changeable, so pack a layer and something waterproof. The city expects well over a million visitors across the fifteen days — book flights, hotels and any ticketed events as far ahead as you can, because central beds sell out months before this one.

Conseils Pratiques

Grab a seat in the WorldPride Stadium

A 10,000-seat stadium is going up on the Prinsengracht just for the Canal Parade and the boats sail right through it. Reserved seats are the only way to guarantee a view of the water and they sell out fast.

Museumplein is where the nights end

Three headline concerts land on Museumplein — UNITY (Aug 4), Wedding Party XXL (Aug 6) and the Closing Concert (Aug 8). Free to enter and easy to combine with a dinner in De Pijp.
