The honest summary: Burjassot has no gay bar, no gay club, no gay sauna and no cruising spot of its own. It is a dense, working residential town of about 41,300 people on Valencia's northern edge, 5 to 6 km from the city centre, best known for its 16th-century grain silos and the Universitat de València science campus. Same-sex couples live here without fuss and the town council holds its own small Pride party in summer, but for a night out you take the metro into Valencia. Burjassot works as a cheaper, quieter base for Valencia, not as a destination for the scene itself.
Legal in one line: Spain opened marriage and adoption to same-sex couples with Ley 13/2005 (in force 3 July 2005). Ley 4/2023 of 28 February allows legal gender change by self-declaration from age 16 and protects LGBTI people against discrimination. The Valencian Community has its own LGTBI equality law, Ley 23/2018 of 29 November.
What Burjassot actually has
We checked the gay guides that cover Valencia (misterb&b, TravelGay, local sauna and bar lists) and searched in Spanish and Valencian. None of them lists a gay or queer venue in Burjassot in 2026, and Google Maps searches for "bar gay Burjassot" return only ordinary neighbourhood bars and Valencia city venues. The bars around Plaça Emilio Castelar and the market are local and mainstream.
Some older listings on this site filed Valencia bars and saunas (La Carmen Pub, Franky Four Fingers, Fetish, Nunca Digo No, Sauna Olimpic) under Burjassot because of a geocoding error. They are all in Valencia city and are listed there now.
What the town does have:
- Orgull Burjassot. The Ajuntament has a councillor for sexual diversity (Regidoria de Diversitat Sexual) and marks Pride with a free open-air evening. In 2026 it was on Saturday 4 July from 20:00 in Plaça Emilio Castelar, outside the town hall, with a manifesto reading, three drag acts and two DJs (reported by El Periòdic on 26 June 2026). The 2027 date has not been announced at the time of writing.
- The university campus. The Universitat de València's Burjassot-Paterna campus is covered by the university's "diversitats" programme (Unitat d'Igualtat), which runs a trans protocol, helps students change the name they use at the university, and organises Pride activities. Its office is at the Rectorat on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez in Valencia.
There is no LGBTQ+ association based in Burjassot that we could find. The nearest is Lambda València in the city, which runs support groups and is the usual first contact for the whole metro area.
Getting into Valencia's scene
Valencia's gay life is concentrated in Ruzafa (Russafa), south of the old town, with a second cluster in Ciutat Vella around El Carmen. Ruzafa is about 6 km from Burjassot.
- Metrovalencia Line 1 stops at Burjassot and Burjassot-Godella, with trains about every 20 minutes; Burjassot-Godella to Plaça d'Espanya takes about 11 minutes, and Ruzafa is a 10 to 15 minute walk from there or from Xàtiva.
- TRAM Line 4 serves the university campus and the south of the town.
- Check the time of the last train before you go out. After a late night in Ruzafa, a taxi back takes about 15 minutes.
For the bars, clubs and saunas themselves, see our Valencia pages: https://www.gayout.com/europe/spain/valencia/bars and https://www.gayout.com/europe/spain/valencia/saunas.
Pride
Valencia's own Pride (Orgull LGTBI+) is held at the end of June or the beginning of July with a march through the centre. In 2026 the city also hosted the Gay Games, from 27 June to 4 July. Burjassot's municipal party is a small local event; in 2026 it fell on the closing day of the Gay Games.
Staying here
Accommodation in Burjassot is limited and mainstream. The hotels we list are ordinary hotels and B&Bs, not gay hotels:
- Aila II Hotel Boutique, Carrer de Fermín Galán 72, a small hotel near Burjassot-Godella station. Older listings at the same address call it Hotel Trapemar Silos.
- Ohmyloft Valencia, Avenida de las Jacarandas 2, an apartment hotel with loft rooms and a pool near the campus.
- Rooms Burjassot, Carrer de Sant Ignacio de Loyola 12, a small budget option.
- Demar BnB in Godella and Hotel Vista al Sol in Campolivar, both within 4 km.
It can be cheaper than central Valencia, which helps during Fallas in March or a big trade fair at Feria Valencia, just south-west of the town. If you want to walk home from the bars, stay in Ruzafa instead.
- Burjassot is one of the most densely built towns in Spain (about 12,000 people per km²), so expect apartment blocks and busy streets rather than a village feel.
- Worth an hour: Els Silos, the arcaded esplanade over 16th-century underground wheat stores; the former castle, now the Col·legi Major Sant Joan de Ribera; and the 19th-century municipal market.
- Valencia airport (VLC, in Manises) is about 15 km away, around 20 minutes by taxi. By metro you change lines in central Valencia.
- Sexual health: for HIV and STI testing, contact Lambda València or the public health centres (Centros de Salud Pública) in Valencia city.
