Hôtel ILUNION Hacienda de Mijas

Hotel that needs urgent renovation. Although it is far from the town, the location is good but there is no parking (under construction). Correct, clean and well-maintained pool. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Little variety and very basic and poorly maintained cooking. The best thing was the treatment with the staff, especially those at reception, Jose and Alex who were friendly and at the level of good professionals. Thank you Jose.

Take a look 👀 and then 👇🏻 choose 👇🏻: My stay at the Ilunion Hacienda de Mijas Hotel left me with very mixed feelings. It would be unfair not to start by highlighting those who truly made a difference during our visit: Javi, Carmen, and Rocío in the dining room, and Olatz at reception. Their professionalism, friendliness, interest in the customer, and willingness to help demonstrated that excellence in guest service is still possible when there is a genuine dedication to service. Precisely for this reason, the contrast with some of the other staff is even more striking. Working with the public requires patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. When stress or dissatisfaction ends up affecting the customer, perhaps it's time to reconsider whether that position is still the right one or, at least, to better appreciate the opportunity you have. As for the food, the experience seems to depend excessively on the profile of the guests staying there. When organized groups, celebrations, or a high number of British tourists are present, the buffet offers a wider variety and higher quality. However, in the absence of these groups, the service can abruptly transform into a much more limited à la carte menu. If this situation persists for several days, it becomes difficult to avoid repeating dishes over and over. The variety at both lunch and dinner is scarce, and basic details such as allergen information are conspicuously absent. We even found spoiled fruit, which is unacceptable for an establishment of this category. Curiously, even the variety of fruit available seems to fluctuate depending on the composition of the guests: with a greater international presence, more options appear; without it, the choice is considerably reduced (apples and pears). The room also fell short of expectations for a four-star **** hotel. It was advertised as having a pool view, but to see it, one practically had to crane one's neck from a small window. The space was cramped and far from the spaciousness typically found in other establishments of the same category. Furthermore, it didn't take much searching to find damage to the floors, walls, and doors. The latter, with their poor sound insulation, allowed one to hear conversations and movements in the hallway and adjoining rooms as if they were happening inside the room itself. In short, I left with the impression of receiving different treatment than other foreign guests. On more than one occasion, I had the feeling that British, German, and other nationalities enjoyed more attentive service than that offered to Spanish visitors. This perception, whether intentional or not, left a bitter taste at the end of the stay. It's a shame, because the good work of some staff members demonstrates that this hotel has the potential to offer a much better experience than the one we ultimately received. PS 1: The price of a 1-liter bottle of water for lunch is €3.80, and the tap water may not be filtered, given its strong taste. PS 2: The daily price for using the safe (rental) is €3. PS 3: The dirt parking lot is very busy in the late afternoon and evening. The covered concrete parking lot is under construction. I'm afraid it will require a reservation and payment.

I complained three times that my room had no air conditioning, and despite the manager's help, no one was able to solve the problem, even though I had booked a room with air conditioning. Furthermore, the refrigerator smelled like a dead animal. All I can say is: all show and no substance.

A terrible experience! We checked in at 6 PM and were given a room connected to other rooms. The room had a door leading to other rooms that could be opened with a key. We were concerned about security and asked to change rooms (this kind of room shouldn't be listed for sale in the first place! The Booking.com listing didn't mention there was another door in the room!). They told us they were full and gave us a room on the ground floor with no view whatsoever! The facilities were extremely basic and completely different from the pictures! It was similar to an ibis budget hotel! For a four-star hotel, it was absolutely terrible! A very bad experience! I will never come here again!

It's a shame such a beautiful hotel is so neglected; it needs a renovation of the rooms and other facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful, but everything else needs restoration.

On June 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM, we were about to order "tostada con tomate y jamon" (a Japanese topping for bread) at the bar when a male server told us to toast the bread ourselves and get everything! We had ordered the exact same thing yesterday, and a lady had prepared it for us and brought it to the table. I was shocked by the service; it was like going to a restaurant and expecting me to go into the kitchen and cook for myself?! After staying here for two days, I felt the service was inconsistent and the hotel management was chaotic, completely failing to meet the standards of a four-star hotel. In the end, we left hungry and will never come back.
