Place is spotless, Arrived for a friends wedding,and wasn’t allow our rooms until after 3, no problem. We can grab a drink at the bar as it was baking hot, Stood in the bar over 20 minutes waiting for someone to serve us, on asking a member of staff can we get a drink , i was told bar doesn’t open until 11? I pointed out it was 11.20 ,she then told me she can’t serve as she was too young? We get served at 11.25 . Food during the wedding was fab, very fresh and hot. So to breakfast, in the rooms they supply coffee and tea and peppermint tea for free. We had paid £179 for a suite for the night, at breakfast I asked if my wife could have a peppermint tea? No , it’s extra cost, I added , it’s free in the rooms? Go and fetch the one from the room, it’s not my rules? It’s these little interactions and stood waiting for services that make me not able to give max scores, very short sited on both complaints.

Recently had our wedding here and cannot fault the day, such good feedback from all our guests those who came for the day or those who stayed. Amazing service and food all stay. Made sure me and my wife were always first to be served so we always got to try everything and then the kids were always pushed to the front on the queue. And they even brought the kids their own bowls of chips in the evening so they were all very happy. Liberty went above and beyond through the whole experience no only did we love having her as our wedding coordinator, all of our guests kept asking who she was as she was so kind chatty and accommodating. It really was a better day than we could have ever wished for. We also had our dog there who was treated so well by all the staff.

We had our wedding day here on 20.06.2026 and it was simply perfect. We can’t thank Liberty enough for her hard work making sure our day ran smoothly. Everything looked exactly how we’d imagined, Designs by Daykin did a fabulous job with the decor we had so many compliments. Everything we ‘DIY’d’ was put out how we asked - thank you so much Liberty! The food was amazing all day, just wish I could have eaten more (wedding day nerves!) The only small negative which doesn’t take away from our day was the bedrooms were incredibly warm, no aircon made it a little uncomfortable getting ready / sleeping although we did bring some fans to help. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making our day so perfect - Niamh & Josh xx

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our wedding reception at Wildes. From the planning right through to the day itself, Liberty was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, helpful, organised and always made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but having someone who listens to what you want and genuinely cares about making your day special makes such a difference, and Liberty did exactly that. On the day, everything came together beautifully. The staff at Wildes were fantastic, attentive without being intrusive, welcoming to our guests and always on hand whenever anything was needed. We were able to relax and enjoy our reception rather than worrying about what was happening behind the scenes, which is exactly what you want on your wedding day. The whole reception felt special, relaxed and incredibly well looked after. So much work goes on in the background to make a wedding run smoothly, and we really appreciated everything Liberty and the entire Wildes team did for us. Thank you for helping to make such an important day in our lives one we’ll always remember. ❤️

We had our wedding here in July & it was perfect from start to finish. They couldn’t accommodate us more & they met every need we wanted! Soecial mention to Liberty who made the day run perfect! She is excellent and made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. Cliche to say it was the best day of our lives but it was! Thanks for everything.

Sadly disappointing 18th Birthday! We ate at Wildes (Van Dykes) around three years ago and remember the food and menu being of a much higher standard. Unfortunately, this visit was a real disappointment. The current menu feels chaotic and far too big. Lasagne, burgers, kebabs, liver, steaks and fish—it is randomly all over the place, with no clear style or direction. Trying to offer so many different dishes is a classic mistake, and that showed in the basic issues with the food we received. I started with the Scotch egg and piccalilli. It looked good and the egg was cooked nicely, but the sausage meat was bland and had none of the peppery flavour I expected. The piccalilli was also disappointing, with very little sharpness or flavour. For my main, I had the cod loin with a chorizo crust. The cod itself was cooked well, but the dish was again badly lacking in seasoning. I expected the chorizo crust to have a little heat and the sauce to add some sort of citrus freshness, but both were incredibly bland. The roasted baby potatoes served with the cod were dehydrated and clearly not fresh. They looked and tasted as though they had been cooked much earlier and then reheated. The chocolate brownie was generally okay, although it had a slightly powdery texture. It was ok with the ice cream, but nothing special at all. For a restaurant like Wildes, seasoning food properly and attention to detail should be basic expectations. Sadly, the standard has dropped considerably since our previous visit and this meal was nowhere near the level we remembered. It’s difficult to understand how any chef of a certain level could feel proud of such a chaotic, overfilled menu with no clear direction.

I stayed at WILDES INNS as part of a wedding party after the hotel was recommended to guests. There were positives: the wedding breakfast was excellent, I complimented the chef and staff, and breakfast the following morning was also good. Unfortunately, a visibly dirty pillowcase/pillow cover had been left on the dressing table in my room. At around 3:40am, when the Duty Manager attended because of an electricity issue, I told her about it and pointed out where it was. It was not removed. I also experienced intermittent banging, thudding and heavy movement throughout the night, followed by very loud pipework-type noise in the early hours. I reported this to the Day Manager and explained that because it was intermittent, he might not hear anything during a brief inspection. He checked briefly and heard nothing at that particular moment. What disappointed me most was the response afterwards. I corrected the hotel’s account in writing, but they ultimately said they could find no evidence supporting my concern about the pillowcase. I found that very upsetting because I had reported it directly to a member of staff while she was physically present in my room. I have been fair in acknowledging what the hotel did well and that the external power outage was not their fault. However, I felt my concerns were dismissed and my account was effectively treated as not credible. Expedia later reviewed the matter separately and compensated me fairly. Sadly, because of how my complaint was handled, I would not personally recommend the hotel. Beautiful location and surroundings. This was one of the strongest parts of the stay.

Two of the waiters at Tasha and Matt Jacksons wedding were rude everything was too much trouble . The lady with lond dark hair in a ponytail and blonde with pink shirt . Were very very rude

We recently got married in the Garden Ballroom and had our ceremony outside, and it was absolutely perfect. The venue is stunning, and with the beautiful weather on the day, everything looked even more magical. The staff were amazing from start to finish, making sure everything ran smoothly and allowing us to enjoy every second of our special day. A huge thank you to our wedding coordinator, James Fletcher-Adams, who was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and we couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator. Thank you to everyone for making our wedding day so special. We truly couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful venue or a more amazing team. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for the perfect place to get married!

We had our wedding at Wildes Inns on the 25th July 2026. From start to finish our wedding was stress free. The whole day was perfect. James our wedding coordinator was amazing, friendly and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. The food, disco, venue, venue stylist Designs by Daykin were brilliant too. Wild Florists, also located at the venue, supplied us with the most stunning flowers. We would 100 percent recommend this venue to any couple looking for a stress free, amazing and beautiful day.

We had the most amazing day and were lucky enough to get married outside in the beautiful garden by the ballroom, which was exactly what we’d envisioned. A huge thank you to Charlotte and the entire team, who went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. From start to finish, they were incredibly organised, attentive and supportive, checking in with us throughout the day to make sure everything was running smoothly and that we were enjoying every moment. We stayed the night before in a suite with an adjoining room, and the staff even moved all of our belongings into the bridal suite for us after the wedding, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the day completely stress-free. The team were also fantastic at accommodating our guests’ food allergies, ensuring everyone was well looked after. We truly had the best day ever, and so much of that was thanks to the wonderful team at Wildes Inn.

Just been for an afternoon tea, it was very good value for money, very delicious. Will definately go again. Staff were attentive.
