Brighton is England's unofficial LGBTQ+ capital — the Kemptown gay quarter is one of the most visible in Europe and Pride in August draws half a million people. Two established saunas serve the community, both close to the seafront.
The Brighton Sauna
The largest gay sauna in Southeast England — 20-person dry sauna, steam room, 20-person jacuzzi, 16 private cabins, darkroom, and cinema room. Towels, lockers, condoms, and lube included. Discreet rear entrance available if preferred. Busier on evenings and weekends, particularly after closing time on busy nights. Open 24 hours daily.
The Boiler Room Sauna
In Hove — 3 minutes by train from Brighton station, or a straightforward taxi. More relaxed and social in character than the Brighton Sauna; 12-person sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, private cabins, video room, play spaces, and a fully licensed lounge bar. Free tea, coffee, and water; light meals and snacks available; tanning booth. Known for themed nights — bear events, fetish parties, naked parties. Cleaner atmosphere and more community feel.
Brighton's Gay Bar Scene
The Kemptown gay quarter on St James's Street and Marine Parade is one of the most concentrated LGBTQ+ areas in the UK — dozens of bars, clubs, and venues within walking distance. Club Revenge is the main dance club; Bulldog is the longest-running cabaret bar; Subline is the cruise club. Wild Fruit is a nationally known club night. See our separate guide to Brighton bars for the full rundown.
Brighton Pride
First weekend of August — approximately 500,000 people over the weekend. The parade through the city centre on Saturday is one of the largest in Europe; Preston Park hosts the main festival. Book accommodation and tickets for the park event many months in advance.
