Le Village has a retail strip alongside its bar and restaurant scene. The shops reflect the neighbourhood's character: some are explicitly LGBTQ+ focused, others are general retail that operates in and around the gay district. The mix is practical rather than destination shopping.

Village retail

Sainte-Catherine in Le Village has a handful of shops selling pride merchandise, clothing, and accessories with an obvious LGBTQ+ orientation. These are particularly well-stocked around Pride season and Divers/Cite. If you are looking for flags, clothing, or event merchandise, the Village strip will have it. Outside of major event periods, the selection is more limited.

Adult shops are present in the Village and adjacent streets. Several have been operating for years and stock a full range of products. These are straightforward operations and not obscure to find.

Beyond the Village

Montreal's broader shopping offer is worth knowing. The city has a strong independent retail culture in several neighbourhoods. Mile End, to the northwest, has vintage clothing, record shops, and independent bookstores. Plateau Mont-Royal has a mix of clothing, design, and lifestyle retail on Avenue du Mont-Royal and the streets around it. These areas are not gay-specific but are gay-friendly and part of the city's general alternative retail landscape.

The Underground City, or RESO, connects major shopping centres including Place Montreal Trust, Complexe Desjardins, and others. Useful in winter but also a functional shopping destination in any season.
