Greenhouse Bolivia

Not worth the low price, stay somewhere else in La Paz, we stayed at other places in La Paz that were much nicer and similar price. The rooms were fine but nothing special, kitchen facilities we also good but that is where our praise finishes. Room smelt like cigarettes (one of our rooms even had used cigarette butts in it), and bathroom was constantly not cleaned with no toilet paper. It is one of those hostels where they're really strict about amenities (only 2 bread buns, wash your own breakfast dishes, no towel, shower was cold in the early morning, etc.) Which is fine for the price but considering the rest of what you have to put up with, it isn’t. Our main issue was with the host. When asked him to help us book taxi (after he offered to help us!), He said he wouldn't book is a taxi but he'd help us find one on the street, which is fine but when I tried to confirm this would be an ok option as we had heard that drivers were going on strike the day we were leaving, he became unecessarily abbrasive and rude. We also confirmed with him the day before that we would be able to get our stuff out of the fridge at 6am as we were leaving early (fridge is locked 12am-7am). We cut up literally one piece of fruit and one of our party had some yoghurt and he came into the kitchen and raised his voice at us saying he had told us the previous night we weren't allowed to use the kitchen so early so it didn't disturb the guests (he hadn't said this, he'd said make sure your fridge stuff is ready to go which I guess we just misunderstood). Even then, we would have understood because we were trying to be quiet and respectful but didn't realise a room was so close to the kitchen. The way he raised his voice at us made us really uncomfortable, but even aside from the fact that the way he spoke to us was completely disrespectful, he spoke to us was much louder than we were being! This is on top of the fact that there were people in the kitchen the previous night being loud until 2am, and that the whole place is so creaky with such thin walls it's impossible to be quiet! All in all, even before we had to deal with such a difficult host we weren't stoked with place, but after he aggressively raised his voice at us, we just tried to get out as soon as we could.

A truly authentic place with amazing people. I really enjoyed the kitchen's atmosphere; it's spacious and perfect for cooking while chatting with other travelers. Sometimes, great service and a friendly, shared space are worth far more than a modern facade. Highly recommended for the hospitality! Plus, Pedrito gives you excellent service from the moment you arrive. I absolutely loved my stay, which lasted several days. I'll be back at Green House very soon.

Comfortable and very well located! There's a safe place to leave my motorbike inside the hostel!

Good location, friendly service and comfortable rooms for a fair price

Greenhouse Bolivia was a very nice experience, we highly recommend this hostel. The staff is very nice and professionel. And Diego is very nice and caring for his visitors.
