Praia de Boa Viagem (Gay Beach)

The gay section of Praia de Boa Viagem is Recife's main LGBTQ+ beach, concentrated between Postos (lifeguard posts) 9 and 10 along Avenida Boa Viagem, where a rainbow flag has long marked the meeting point. A more relaxed cluster also forms near Posto 7. Sundays are busiest, when queer locals and visitors gather for sun, sea and beachfront barracas such as Paris Plage. It is an open, well-known public beach rather than a hidden spot; ordinary big-city beach precautions apply (watch belongings, note the strong currents and the local shark-safety flags on this stretch of coast).
