An exceptional stay with great service, food and fun! Definitely my go to whenever I find myself in Antigua.

This was a surprise 50th birthday trip for me, organized by my daughter. We traveled as a party of 6 women, in our over 50's, 40's, 30's and twenty-somethings, and we all had a fantastic experience. The villa was beautiful, the butlers and staff were great (Michael & Craig were our normal staff)... Ms. Viola made us the most delicious breakfast daily. We had relaxing massages, and lounged by the pool for hours. Ice cold pina coladas, and fantastic dinners at Katsuya. I have traveled extensively in the carribean and globally and this resort is one of my new favorite places. Quiet, beautiful and relaxing experience.

The hotel rooms are in serious need of a remodel. The couch was covered in disgusting stains, the patio had only one chair, and the bathroom sink looked broken, as if it had been poorly glued back together. The receptionist was very cold and unwelcoming. Our reservation stated that upgrades are available upon arrival, yet the hotel was nearly empty and they still tried to charge us for an upgrade. On top of that, they had the audacity to email us at 6 a.m. asking when we would be checking out of the room. My husband and I travel often, and we’ve stayed at everything from affordable accommodations to luxury hotels. This place is definitely not worth your hard-earned money, especially at $800+ per night, not including food and other expenses. The atmosphere of the hotel felt eerie and off. The only positive aspects were the staff who escorted us to our room and the team at the breakfast restaurant were amazing and very helpful. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

This may be the nicest place I have ever stayed. My first time to stay in a room that is feet away from the ocean. It was a wonderful view. The view from both the front room and the bedroom are fantastic. The widows open all the way so you can essentially open the wall out to the ocean. It was a stunning view. They do get sargassum weed but they clean it up in the mornings and there was never any smell related to the sargassum weed rotting and the beach was pleasant. The hot tub was way too hot to use for about 5 days but they had that fixed before we left. The infinity hot tub and pool are exceptional. The service was great. I loved the time visiting with the staff. They made the stay even better. The maid service was wonderful. Prickly Pear island was wonderful. It's delightful to sit in the beach and enjoy the view. The snorkeling is great for the quantity of fish but the coral is too close to the surface. You have about 18 inches of space to swim in. I prefer to have coral that is at least 5-6 feet deep. They do provide snorkel gear and kayaks and paddle boards and life jackets, the boat ride to prickly pear island is free. Be prepared to do a little maintenance on the snorkel gear. For example, clean out the sand from the vents so the gear does not leak. They only had one full face mask that was functional. If you want to use a full face mask I would bring my own. It's not perfect but it did exceed my expectations and those items that were lacking we all minor. This is on my list of places to return to. It was fantastic.

We just got back from a trip and stayed here for a week. Really nice place but I would not recommend for people with mobility issues because there are a lot of stairs and the elevator is out of service.

The door latch was broken — the door would not fully close and latch behind me when leaving the room. Beyond that, the adjoining room door had two handles rather than the standard handle-and-lock configuration, meaning the occupants of the adjacent room could open the door from their side with no way for me to prevent it. That’s a genuine safety issue, not just an inconvenience. I stayed in room 1201. A broken couch leg in this room was flagged in a guest review three years ago — and it is still broken. This tells you everything you need to know about how maintenance feedback is acted upon here. I had high expectations for Hodges Bay given its price point and reputation, but several serious issues left a lasting poor impression. Check-in was unexpectedly confrontational. Staff were unusually insistent on collecting personal information beyond what’s typical — including home address, email, and emergency contact — and the tone wasn’t welcoming. After check-in, I was walked to my room with zero orientation: no explanation of resort amenities, dining options, pool locations, or anything else. This set the tone for the entire stay — staff are poorly trained and every request felt like an inconvenience. For a luxury resort, that’s simply unacceptable. For $800+ per night, there is a reasonable expectation of basic physical security, functional furniture, and attentive service. These aren’t minor quirks — they’re fundamental failures. I’d encourage management to do a full audit of room 1201 (and likely others) and invest seriously in staff training before the next guest checks in.
