Camp fYrefly Southern Alberta

Camp fYrefly is a leadership, resilience and arts retreat for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and questioning youth. The programme began at the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 2004; the southern Alberta edition, serving Calgary and the surrounding region, launched in 2013 and is now run independently by the Centre for Sexuality, Calgary's long-standing sexual-health and 2SLGBTQ+ organisation. Each year it brings queer and trans young people together for several days of workshops, mentorship, creative expression and community-building in a supportive, affirming environment. It is not a venue travellers drop into, but it is one of the anchors of Calgary's queer youth-support network — worth knowing alongside the Centre for Sexuality and Calgary Outlink.
