A staff member at RivetStays recommended this place, so glad they did. It’s a cozy bookstore with a small café serving coffee and light breakfast. Great LGBTQ+ selection, super chill vibe, and friendly staff. Perfect spot to relax and browse.

Trip Advisor has this listed as a 'restaurant'. While they have a coffee and baked goods area, I certainly don't consider it a restaurant. It is a bookstore - and quite a good one. Obviously, their focus is on the LGBTQ+ community, and in that regard, they're well covered. Their store is spread out so everything is easy to find. And I actually did have something to eat - a coffee and something called a brownie-cookie. Whatever they call it, it was delicious. And the service was very friendly.

Visited last night for a Dragula viewing party with Yovska. Had THE best time, all staff were friendly and helpful and the drag acts were just fantastic.

Glad Day is the world's oldest LGBT bookshop, and it recently moved from it's oldest site on Yonge St to church St, in the middle of the village. Extra space allows for cafe dining, and events, in addition to the bookshop. It far from being the prettiest establishment, but the friendliness is there, the community is there, and the coffee ad food, although simple and unsophisticated, hits the spot. I judge a place by their Eggs Benny for breakfast. Glad Day passed the test. Again not sophisticated but very satisfying. And you have the advantage of being in an amazing specialist bookshop. If you want smart and chic, GDBS is not for you. If you want community and friendship and solidarity then come here. ps - with the picture window at the front, it's also great for people watching

I was at Glad Day Bookshop for breakfast. The food was very good, hot and did not take long from the time I ordered it to the time I got it. I will be back for breakfast and would recommend going there

We walked in once recently after a walk through the neighbourhood. We found some decent children's books, and their flat whites were decent. We stayed for a bit on this cold day and had only a couple of other patrons in the place at the same time. It is a nice place, though can't say much about it later in the day.

While attending a conference in the Village, I was invited to join another practitioner for lunch. Since they live in the neighbourhood they shared that it was one of their favourite places to eat and relax. Just delicious food. So filling, fresh and was pleased with how good the taste and texture of the gluten free bread was. The restaurant is also a bookstore, so plenty of people at surrounding tables working on laptops, and/or reading. A wonderful atmosphere. I’ll be back again next time I’m in TO.

Glad Day Bookshop has moved from Yonge Street to a store front on Church Street and expanded their shop to not only the bookshop, but also a bar/cafe and restaurant. I had been in once for coffee, but found the interior tooooooo dark. But they have now painted it in a lighter colour and added more lighting. so relaxing to have a drink and socialize, have a good meal and bronze and possibly buy a good LGBTQ2 book!!!!! I recently had a super grilled cheese sandwich. place my coffee and sandwich order at the bar, and was served at a table of my choice. the sandwich had 3 types of cheese on a whole wheat -- a great cheese sandwich, almost as good as moms. definitely will be back!
