Alameda Central (Gay Cruising Area)

The Alameda Central, the oldest public park in the Americas, sits beside Metro Hidalgo at the western edge of the historic centre and has one of Mexico City's longest-standing gay cruising traditions, going back decades. Activity picks up after dark along the darker paths near the Museo Franz Mayer end. By day it is a busy, family-filled park, so the usual discretion applies once the sun goes down. Of the downtown spots it is generally considered the safer one, but keep valuables out of sight and stay aware at night. Same-sex activity is fully legal in Mexico.
