My company is a small, local business, and we had a standing account with UniFirst for many years. They provided mats for our showroom and exchanged them for clean ones on a bi-weekly basis. Based on that long relationship, we expected straightforward and honest business practices. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. In early 2025, we were told we needed to sign a price increase notice, which we did without issue. Later that year, our business moved to a new location and no longer needed the service. When we contacted UniFirst to cancel our bi-weekly mat deliveries, they claimed that same signature had locked us into a 5-year contract and demanded $1,350 to cancel it. To put that in perspective, this service cost our small business just $24.98 per month. The document was presented on a clipboard, and no one clearly explained that we were supposedly agreeing to a long-term contractual commitment. That is not transparent business practice. What made the situation worse was UniFirst’s complete unwillingness to seriously investigate our complaint. We explained that we had been told this was only a price increase acknowledgment, not a contract. Even our regular delivery driver, who was familiar with the account and the situation, told us we should not have been signed into this agreement. Instead of meaningfully addressing those concerns, UniFirst dismissed them and blamed a supposed language barrier with the same driver we had communicated with for years without issue. Rather than fairly addressing a legitimate dispute, UniFirst escalated the matter to a commercial collections agency and pushed hard for payment. As a small local business, we ultimately paid $800 to make it go away, not because we believed UniFirst handled the situation honestly or fairly. Based on our experience, businesses should be extremely cautious dealing with UniFirst. Read every document carefully, insist on seeing all terms clearly in writing, and never rely solely on verbal explanations. What happened to us felt misleading from start to finish.

Not sure if this space will fit the amount of negative feedback that I have ?!!! We are a large medical office, and we have been with them for many years (mandated by contract) trust me NOT by choice: 1. Sizes differ through out the year, a large today might be smaller or bigger couple weeks later 2. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, there is some ink stain on the scrubs, we called them and we were told that it’s because they wash someone else’s scrubs or uniforms with it ?! 3. They have a form that you fill out for defective or ripped scrubs, we have filled tens of these in very the past couple years, for get it, they don’t care … Their drivers are nice and polite, other wise, never again ! Can’t wait for our contract to be over, but I am told we still have two years with them 😖
