Super cute inn walking distance from DT. Really quaint inn with nice staff and there are some small communal outdoor sitting areas. It's a 2-3 blocks from the main downtown area but far enough away where it's really quiet on the street. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. I don't think there's central air but the windows do open up and there are fans in the room. I wish there were screens on the windows. Parking as pretty easy when I got there and I didn't have to move my car much since everything was so close on foot. There seemed to be decent amount of street parking too because it is a few blocks from DT.

Lovely accommodation in Carmel, Short walk to the beach and nice restaurants

Terrible experience and unsafe for families with young children We stayed in a downstairs room with an additional attic room. While the space itself was fine, the overall experience was very disappointing and unsafe — especially for families. The attic room was unbearably hot during the day with no air conditioning, making it extremely uncomfortable. At night, temperatures dropped significantly, and the place became very cold. I tried to turn on the heat in the morning, not realizing that the “heat” was controlled by a fireplace located dangerously close to the stairs leading to the attic. We have a 1.5-year-old who is still learning to walk, so our primary concern was her safety. To block her from accessing the stairs and fireplace, we used our luggage as a barrier. Unfortunately, once the fireplace turned on, we smelled something burning — our brand new luggage had melted. It wasn’t clear at all that turning on the heat would activate the fireplace, and there were no warnings or signage indicating this risk. When I contacted management to request a baby gate or safety solution, they said there was nothing they could do, but gave me the contact info for someone named Amir. He asked us to send an email detailing the incident, which we did — and never heard back. I followed up two months later, only to be met with rudeness. Amir said management laughed at the situation and claimed they “tested” it and that nothing burned near the fireplace. He then told me I should have used “common sense” — incredibly disrespectful, especially after our child’s safety was at risk and our belongings were damaged. This was a terrible experience with unacceptable customer service. The property is not child-safe, and the way the situation was handled was both unprofessional and dismissive. We will not be returning and do not recommend staying here — particularly if you’re traveling with kids.

Very small room that smelled like cleaning products over wet dog. Horrible. Only one small window for fresh air which was not enough to get rid of the smell. Room above allowed us to hear every floorboard squeak and footfall, toilet flush and more. Coffee undrinkable. Way too pricey for the experience. Good location though if you want to be walking distance from the throngs of people on Ocean.

Fabulous pretty and cozy inn to stay in the earth of Carmel. It's old and in good shape and it is so romantic and pretty, nothing like the big chains. I'll suggest you go there!

Beautiful Bed & Breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet in the reservation office/ dining room. At check-in, the staff is friendly & informative. Warm fresh cookies seem to be available a lot. It's an older property. Then again, most properties in Carmel by the Sea are older properties. If you're looking for accommodations in Carmel, there is a huge difference between Carmel & Carmel by the Sea. Carmel by the Sea is a few minutes walk to the ocean, shops, & restaurants. Anything outside of Carmel by the Sea is completely different. I purchased tickets to take my family whale watching. The Green Lantern offers less expensive prices than purchasing tickets directly from the piers. Plus, you have the advantage of choosing a time & day of your excursions.

Beautiful hotel and location, much better in person than the photos on the website. Well-maintained, clean, and preserved. Very good service and an excellent location for both the beach and downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. The only downside is that the room is cold at night, but nothing a good heater can't fix. Highly recommended!
