Mico Restaurant

Our new favorite restaurant. Spanish cuisine. Had the octopus, gnocchi, charcuterie, salad and even a grilled cheese. Simply wowed. Drinks were delicious. Will go back here every time. Haven't been out to eat and been wowed in awhile. Keep it up. We will be back and we tell all our friends and family.

On July 25, 2026, my boyfriend, two friends, and I visited MICO in Uptown Charlotte to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special evening turned into a very disappointing and frightening experience. We arrived at approximately 7:09 p.m., but due to an unexpected emergency, we did not receive our meal until around 9:09 p.m. During our visit, a fire broke out on or near the restaurant’s rooftop, forcing everyone to evacuate. It was a scary experience, and our birthday celebration was completely interrupted. Although we considered leaving, we returned once the restaurant reopened in an effort to be understanding and respectful of the staff, knowing the situation was unexpected. Unfortunately, after waiting about two hours, our food arrived cold. At that point, we were extremely hungry and decided to eat it rather than wait even longer. Considering the lengthy delay, the evacuation, and the quality of the food, the overall experience was very disappointing. While I understand that emergencies can happen, I believe the restaurant should review its safety procedures and how it handles guests after an incident like this. Better communication, fresh food after such a long delay, and some acknowledgment of the inconvenience would have gone a long way. Sadly, what was meant to be a memorable birthday celebration was ruined. We spent our money expecting a great dining experience but instead left disappointed. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We had a lovely dining experience during our two night stay with two servers here, Ashley for evening service 7/20 & breakfast 7/21 with Horace. Both of them displayed excellent professionalism, rapport with our family & creating a memorable experience for our kids (especially Horace!). The espresso martinis were excellent and beautifully made by two different bartenders. My only gripe with the atmosphere is there appears to be a gnat problems, so we were left to swat away a lot of those during our meals.
