À propos de l'événement

Join filmmaker Brydie O’Connor and writer and art historian Dr. Ksenia M. Soboleva for a conversation celebrating the life and work of Barbara Hammer, the pioneering filmmaker whose groundbreaking practice transformed queer and experimental cinema.
Presented in the context of Rocío García: The Object of Power is Power, currently on view at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, the discussion reflects on Hammer’s enduring artistic legacy through the making of Barbara Forever (2026), O’Connor’s award-winning, archive-driven documentary spanning five decades of the artist’s life and work, opening for its New York theatrical run at Film Forum September 4, 2026. Learn more here.
Brydie O’Connor activates archives through queering storytelling structures within the nonfiction space. Brydie’s work has been presented at Sundance, Berlinale, BFI, The Centre Pompidou, and The Museum of Modern Art, among other festivals and museums worldwide.
