We have always enjoyed the atmosphere here. We often stop here for a drink or two before heading out to dinner. And also have eaten here many times over the years. Sadly this landmark has been somehow become a brew pub with mediocre bar food. It used to be a classy place with excellent food. I guess I can understand the transition, it seemed to be crowded. And it offers an alternative to what's available in town. But the food is mediocre at best with expensive prices for the fare. As for the atmosphere, we don't go for the shows so I can't comment on that. But this visit was an eye opener. The drinks are pricey but well made. I guess it just seems overpriced.....two manhattans for $34 plus tip. The bartenders are pleasant enough but seem to be more willing to cater to the gay clientele more than a straight couple. Not open to conversation even when the bar isn't crowded. Nonetheless we stopped a couple times; once when it was kind of quiet and again when it was busy. Now for the atmosphere.....they have replaced the surface around the bar area with a horrible, squishy fake grass. It not only looks tacky, but apparently it seems to be attracting stray cats. The smell of urine was kind of overwhelming. As far as the music, one evening they had a one man show that was so loud and off key it was like fingernails on a blackboard. Just awful to the point of being overwhelming. Enough said. It's still a fun place to have a drink but try to get there before the music starts.

Fun porch piano bar experience. The indoor spaces were very loud and pretty much empty at 10:00 on a Friday night. Expensive drink prices.

First of all, I have to tell you about a salad that I ate--I know, a weird way to start a review, and in all honesty, this is probably the first review where I've ever mentioned salad, but it was that good. IF you would rather read about the INDOMITABLE Tina Burner, skip a bit... Okay, so back to the salad. Butch's, a restaurant at the Crown & Anchor is helmed by James Beard award-winning local Chef Kelly Fields. We popped in for a drink and a snack, and I ordered a frozen whiskey drink and a SALAD. Not my usual move... It was the elote brussels sprouts tossed salad $20 of the best dollars I have ever spent on salad. Actually, THE BEST. While I enjoy brussels sprouts, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've thought, "I think I'll order that brussels sprout salad, but it included grilled corn, avocado, pickled peppers, cotija, crema, and cilantro, and I thought...I enjoy those flavors. I can't explain just how delicious it was. The brussels sprouts were cooked PERFECTLY and each flavor of the dish built upon the next, hitting all of the right spots. My taste buds lit up like a marquee advertising drag queens...which brings me to Tina Burner. Tina Burner was one of only two queens I saw twice on my trip. We (my husband, our friend Patrick Stewart, and I) were in town to eat and see drag.We went to three (or four) drag shows a day, and still didn't make it to every queen in town, so seeing one twice was a serious endorsement within our scheduling. I don't want to give anything away about the acts themselves, but go to the brunch, also in Butch's. I highly recommend the fried chicken biscuit with tabasco honey--and don't forget your tip money. They will make change for you, so you don't have to BYO singles. Absolutely kid friendly! Also, see Tina Burner Scene Queen: It's funny, it's sexy, it's solid vocal stylings. You'll be wowed and entertained...but maybe don't bring the kids to this one? It's not meant for them. Go for your night out. Bring your husband. Bring the girls. Bring your camera, and you won't be disappointed.

This review centers around one of their performers-Tina Burner at the Crown and Anchor, whom I saw in early June. About ten minutes into the performance, she was going around collecting money in a clockwise manner- approaching me from behind. I was at that point disappointed by her act - and not ready or prepared to “contribute”. She then grabbed me by both shoulders and violently shook me for about 90:seconds. She had an awful show- it’s repetitive from several other shows and borrows heavily from other shows in Provincetown. She also cannot sing or dance. I had to leave the show after about 15-20 minutes due to anger at the way I was treated by Tina Burner. and I am considering filing assault charges There are other performers who regularly perform in Provincetown, who entertain with style, class and originality - and- without resorting to insulting and mistreating their audience.

We have been here many times for drinks, shows and dinner but never for dinner. Due to our time frame and logistics we decided on the Crown. We were not expecting much but what a surprise. The service was great and my ceviche was one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife is very picky when it comes to scallops and she was very, very happy. Cooked perfectly and a nice presentation. I spoke with a few of the locals during the remainder of our stay and they informed there is a new chef. My compliments to him!

Love Love Love this place. Went for a wedding and despite a cyclone storm the staff managed to make this wedding venue one of the most romantic and lovely I have experienced. Danny the manager - you are an amazing event planner and executor! Everyone had a tremendous time. Excellent food, terrific bartenders. We also stayed at the hotel and the staff were so sweet and accommodating (thank you Steve, Anthony and Michael), and the beds were so comfortable. I would recommend this venue for events and lodging to everyone. Thank you Crown & Anchor we will be back every year now!

July 2023, we always make it a point to see Bobby Wetherbee when we are in town. He only played on Sunday, normally we had a longer gig, but for some reason his show was only one night. Loved the new setup for the piano bar. Instead of the piano being inside by the bar area, now the piano is set up on the outside large covered patio. We ended up sitting outside and watching Bobby’s set.

Many thanks to host Armand for accommodating us for dinner without a reservation! Last available table. Understandable, because the food was AMAZING! Definitely recommend the Garlic Shrimp Pasta - what an enjoyable combination of flavors! And while the food was great, it was paired well with Armand’s prowess as a major dining establishment host. This guy knows his stuff! He sat every table, and seemed to follow back and make sure each patron was being well taken care of. Additionally, he was full of helpful and friendly information for two people who were first timers to his city. This guy is a gem. The definition of fine dining. Check them out!
