Bar The Sands Hotel &

I would only book this hotel for the location. The website shows updated rooms but we were given a non updated section and told the renovations for that section may take place this winter. Our room had a ripped carpet, our balcony was consistently wet with the AC condensation from the rooms above. A TV from the early 2000’s. The people working there were nice, the location was fantastic but the room we were in was beyond dated and the hotel is not forthcoming in sharing that the posted images do not apply to the room booked.

Room is nice, so is the close proximity to the beach. Provides bed sheets and blankets.Would be 5 stars if the view didn't look like this (see image below).

Where to start? This was a very good hotel when we first came in 1986. Unfortunately they have let it fall into disrepair and hired staff that while friendly are not helpful. The room: King room with "balcony". The balcony is 6 inches deep but the least of the problems. The carpet is old lumpy and not connected to the concrete floor beneath. Wallpaper is peeling, the toilet seat is chipped, the water is barely above room temperature when set at the hottest. There is a constant water sound coming from the walls when not drowned out by the obnoxiously loud AV unit. Service: When we left at 9am housekeeping was right next to our room. When we returned at 2:30 it hadn't been cleaned so we asked the front desk if they were still coming. They made a call and said they were on the way. An hour later, nothing so we checked back. An hour after that same thing at which point they finally got someone. The next day we saw housekeeping on the way out our door and said "perfect timing, we are just leaving". We came back and the bed had been made but nothing else was clean. Which brings us to the worst part. The Worst Part: Housekeeping either used or broke the toilet or had some sort of backup while they were in there so they just left. Completely uncleaned bathroom with trash on the bin, towels on the floor, and now feces in the toilet. When reported we got no apology but we're told maintenance was on it's way. They sent one person who needed help from a 2nd person. After 20min in the room with us they say do it was half working but slowly ran. They kept working on it and while we were in the bedroom talking to each other, there 2 employees left without a word. No fun resolution. They were at least very polite when they spoke with us at first. Nevertheless, I'm sitting in the bed next to a filthy bathroom as left by staff counting the minutes until I check out in the morning. Conclusion: The location is very good but they are claiming to be a resort and are charging resort prices for what is now in the range of a slightly substandard Motel 6. It's a shame. I heard some rooms are being renovated but ours definitely was not.

Horrible hotel, staff has been rude since we got here. The room wasnt even what we booked. Small bathroom and we had cockroaches in the room. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Best location in Rehoboth. Great bar and food, pool is on the board walk. Our pull out couch was bent and made sleeping in it like sleeping on a hill. Also the TV was very finicky, it worked just had to change input Everytime. Staff was fantastic. Room and linens were clean. AC worked extremely well, lots of hot water. Will stay here again.

After reading the reviews before our trip (and not seeing the negative reviews before booking 🫣), I was pretty nervous about staying here but overall our experience was good. The location is a 10/10. It’s hard to beat and was one of our favorite parts of staying here! We stayed in a Queen Suite South, which has definitely been updated compared to some of the standard rooms. We really appreciated the extra space for our family of five and the balcony with the partial ocean view was a nice bonus. The only downside to our room was the cleanliness. There was still sand on some of the furniture when we checked in and my 4-year-old found a couple of loose pills on the floor (thankfully they were just Advil). As a parent of young children, that was definitely concerning and made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. Our room also wasn't vacuumed throughout our stay, which would have been nice at least once. My parents stayed in one of the non-updated rooms and regretted not upgrading. Their carpet was buckled, the room was very outdated, and on the morning they checked out they saw what appeared to be a cockroach in their room. They definitely did not feel that the price they paid for their room matched what they received. The staff were hit or miss. Most of our interactions weren’t especially warm or friendly but it was fine overall. Overall, I’d stay here again but only in one of the renovated suites. The location alone makes it worth considering and the extra space worked perfectly for our family.

Love it at the sands

My stay at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center was disappointing. We paid for an ocean-view room, but upon check-in, we were assigned a different room number than the one originally listed on our key card holder. When we arrived at the room, it did not appear to have an ocean view as advertised. We spoke with the front desk, and were told that the room was considered a “partial ocean view” because the ocean could be seen from a distance. This was not what we expected when booking an ocean-view room. In addition, the room furnishings appeared outdated, and the couches looked as though they had not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The toilet did not have a lid, which I found unsanitary and inconvenient. It also appears that only portions of the hotel have been renovated, which may explain some of the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned did not reflect the updated appearance shown in many of the reviews and pictures posted online and seemed to be in need of significant renovation. Overall, the hotel appears to require further updates and improvements to both its accommodations and customer service. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet our expectations, and I would not consider it a good value for what we paid.
