Forum 73 is Rochester's oldest gay bar. It opened in 1973 as the Bachelor Forum, moved to its long-time home at 670 University Avenue in the Neighborhood of the Arts, and rebranded as Forum 73 in 2026 — carrying more than fifty years of history into a new era under the same gay ownership.
This is a genuine neighborhood bar, not a flashy nightclub. Regulars and newcomers mix easily over well-made drinks, and the mood is unpretentious and conversational whether you stop in for an afternoon beer or settle in for the evening. Its longevity has made it a quiet institution of the city's LGBTQ+ community.
Set in NOTA near University and Atlantic Avenues, Forum 73 is an easy addition to a night out that might also take in ROAR or the Monroe Avenue bars. For current hours and events, check the bar's social media before you go.

This bar shut down months ago. It's no longer in business.
I'm going to miss this place. I hope it reopens soon. Great place for the community to go. Owners are great.
I can't really rate the food because we got there at like 10:30pm or 11pm. Im sure it would have been good as well. Happy holidays definitely will be going back 😊.
Nice music. Good vibes.
I LOVE how you've upgraded the place! There's so much more space to move around and I especially love the fireplace. Service was quick and friendly, music choices were great 👍 I didn't know people came here for Bills games but now I'd love to come back for another! #bachelor4m @bachelor4m #buzzybooth
One of the most people friendly bars in Rochester
My favorite bar to visit once a month. I LOVE Pup Night! Also friendly staff, plenty of room now for pool and darts after the renovations, and a pleasant outdoor area for chitchat. #bachelor4m @bachelor4m #buzzybooth
I love it here !
Best gay bar in Rochester with a great happy hour and amazing service
I’m absolutely not hyperbolizing when I say my partner and I come here every weekend. We feel safe here. We have fun here and we get good drinks here. Will always return and recommend. #bachelor4m @bachelor4m #buzzybooth
Awesome place to chill for the lgbtqi community also great place to meet new people and make friends staff are just awesome
I was visiting from the Midwest and didn't know anyone in town. The bartender, Lewis, got my drink order and conversed with me. I went there for 3 nights in a row and had 3-4 drinks per night. Each night, I paid Lewis using a credit card and tipped 20%. When I got my card statement, it showed that I was being overcharged by over $100 each night. I believe that once I leave, Lewis adjusts the tip by adding $100 in the credit card terminal so that he gets a larger tip than what I actually authorized. He was the only one who handled my card transaction so I'm positive that it was him who stole from me. Be careful if you come to The Bachelor Forum. If paying with a card, get a copy of your receipt (I didn't get one which was my downfall...but they also don't offer you one). Lewis is a predator. If he thinks you're drunk, he will pull a fast one on you. It's not a very friendly bar, the locals stick to themselves, and the staff isn't very outgoing. Add to that, the bartender(s) is dishonest. Enter at your own risk.
Also known as the 4M. They have great drink specials and a fun atmosphere. Very accepting of all people even though it's listed as a leather/gay bar.
Before I started going to B4M, I was told it was dingy and gross. Couldn't be farther from the truth. Great bartenders and patrons make this place a go to - not to mention the GREAT daily drink specials.
Friendly and fun, Lou and Tom are great bartenders and their 3 for 2 special weekdays is a deal. Saturday evenings are always hopping so get there early and Thursday nights there's Karaoke
After going to the parade and festival and going back home to change we decided to pack an overnight bag and head back to Rochester. We immediately met our friend at the Bachelor Forum which was packed! Everyone was having a wonderful time and were quite friendly. Our highlight was the chinese laterns being released into the night sky. We do get up there once a mnth or so.
The Bachelor Forum people are the best i have never seen such good looking men in my life! When i was in prison for 5 yrs i missed out on so much but now i am making up for it with a daily visit to my new hangout!
I've never actually been inside but when I look through the window it looks fun and they have darts.
This is a nice place to go during the week to play pool with friends. The car tenders are a little slow but there's never a big rush. This bar is becoming popular for the younger crowd. No parking available.
