Spa JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort &

Not worth the money. The rooms are old and dated. In-room convenience items are subpar. It felt like there was an upcharge for eveerything. I wanted to use the adult pool, wasn't told at check in that there would be an additional fee. For a room close to $1000 I should have free access to an "adult" pool. The pool was so packed on Saturday that I had trouble finding an open seat and they ran out of towels! The spa was great. Stay somewhere else and go to the spa.
This property is beautiful. The resort is large and has beautiful views. It is outdated except for the new spa. The pool is undersized for the size of the resort. We had to get there early to get a seat. There were premium seats available. It was surprising that they had an adult pool roped off and only accessible for a premium of $100. This went beyond paying for a seat. There was a resort fee and then a required tip fee for golf carts and housekeepers we never used the golf cart after they brought us to our room within a very short walk from the lobby. These fees should be optional or paid at the guest’s preference for great service. For the price of these rooms, these items such as a golf cart ride, should be included as the operational cost of running a large property. The towels both in the room and pool were worn and rough. The pool restaurant closed at 5 leaving no options at the pool for guests. On the positive side, the staff were amazing. They were helpful and seemed to enjoy the property and working with guest. They offered suggestions and went the extra mile- the JW service I have always appreciated. The food though pricey was delicious and plentiful. The property was clean and well kept on the exterior. The spa underwent a 15 million dollar renovation and it shows. The service and environment were one of the best I have ever experienced. I recommend getting your reservations for services early. There is a pool and cafe service which allowed us to spend the day in a wonderful environment. There were too many special extras to mention. It is expensive but worth it. It might be worth checking out another hotel property in the area.
OK - I love the JW Marriott Camelback (and Gainey Ranch, Royal Palms, Desert Ridge, etc.). I'm a sucker for the beautiful spring weather and southwest vibe. I really appreciate the daily activities that let you do as much or as little as you want. They publish a schedule and you can sign up for free and fee based activities like hikes, walks, yoga on the lawn or in a studio, etc.. I did the free 7:00 walks and 8:00 yoga each day. Deep Stretch Yoga at 8:00 am in Paradise Valley on the lawn is pretty amazing.... We had a cool breeze and visiting love birds and hummingbirds. I also had a spa day which wasn't free - but was worth every penny. See my other review and plan to spend the better part of a day there. The rooms are great. They are private and tucked away - it's a rambling resort and not a multi story hotel. They have complimentary golf cart shuttles, but if you are opposed to walking much ask for a room near the center of the resort. The property is beautiful. The spa, restaurants, etc. are amazing. It would be the perfect place for a family, honeymoon or business trip (like ours). It's a treat!
Beautiful property, very unique. Friendly staff. I very much appreciated the benefits received for my Platinum status: early check-in, room upgrade to a Signature View casita, complimentary breakfast buffet. The casita was comfortable, spacious and had a great view though the rug was dirty & the bathroom needs renovation. One disappointing deal breaker: I was very surprised that you have to pay extra just to swim in the adult pool in the main pool area. Just to swim. You can’t swim unless you rent a cabana, lounge or daybed and the prices change daily and are $$$$. That’s a first. I already paid an extra $60 including tax for a daily resort fee, so please do not relegate me to the kiddie pool. And, please turn down the blaring music because it’s not relaxing and it’s not upscale. It made the pool unusable. There’s also a $200 minimum spend to escape to the adult only spa pool.
This was my third visit to the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. The 1st two visits were incredible. This stay was not great. The nightly rate is very high and for the amount we paid, I should NOT have to pay for a chair at the adult only pool. When I sat in the only chair available, I was told to leave because I didn't reserve the chair. The regular pool was jam packed during my stay and I couldn't sit with my husband OR get an umbrella. I have very fair skin and cannot be exposed to the Arizona sun without some sort of shade. We also had broken glass outside our front door of our room that took a long time to pick up even after resort staff walked by. It was very dangerous.
Gorgeous property, the cacti were spectacular. The bar makes a stellar Cactus Pear Mojito.
We chose this hotel as the vibe /appeal was very southwest. Coming from the east coast for a visit , something other than the "cookie cutter" resort was what we wanted and it didn't disappoint. From the Adobe style buildings, the dessert landscaping and the location at the base of CamelBack mountain and Mummy mountain was the perfect blend. The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning! Complete with varieties of differnt Cacti, palm trees, flowers and more flowers, even a few orange trees! I liked how the resort was laid out. Individual clusters of Adobe style buildings placed among the landscaping with winding walkways gave it a welcoming and unique feel. We booked the basic resort Casita room but being a Bonvoy member we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite and a deluxe oversized Casita room. Both were awesome and very clean. Fresh crisp linens , extra towels, well apointed furnishings complete with a safe and fridge. Both had an outdoor seating area which was nice to have morning coffee. Housekeeping was some as well. They kept it spotless and stocked. Thank you! The pool area was great also. Lots of chairs, unlimited towels, bar and restaurant (Hoppin Jacks) We did rent a cabana a few of the days and it was worth it to have a little space to yourself. It came with a stocked fridge of water and soft drinks, a huge container of sun screen, a fruit platter and a dedicated server. Emily and Mike were two of the servers at Hoppin Jacks we had during our stay and they were just awesome! Kudos to the two of you! you pampered us! Ritas Cantina was a hit as well! The food was fantastic and the servers worked hard! Thank you as well! We did not eat the Lincoln steakhouse but we were told it was really good. It's a big resort and its spread out so it never felt crowded, even when a few conventions were taking place. Overall, it was an amazing time. The staff was very welcoming and they did an excellent job. The grounds clean and very appealing. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. It's a little pricey but it was well worth it. Best hotel stay ever.
I stayed at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa for Spring Training, and we had the best time! The resort was incredible: the team was so warm and welcoming, the atmosphere felt vibrant and fun, and our room was so spacious and cozy. We also loved the on-site Starbucks which made grabbing a morning coffee so easy. The resort is located ~15 minutes from Scottsdale Stadium, which made it so easy for us to get to while being able to come back to a relaxing, clean, and quiet atmosphere. We can't wait to come back!
We’ve stayed at JW Camelback many times. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate and staff are always friendly, great and helpful. We have thoroughly enjoyed each stay. This time, we splurged and got a suite with a private pool. It has been on my bucket list since my husband first took me there years ago. It did not disappoint. The suite itself is large, has beautiful decor and everything you need at your fingertips. Being able to walk out your patio door to your own pool is amazing. There are no other words to describe it. I want to give a huge shout out to Luz Baar. She was fabulous to work with and spoiled us rotten. ❤️ And as usual after we get home, I’m already planning our next trip to JW.
From the moment I arrived at the Camelback Inn, I was truly impressed. As someone who's worked in hospitality for much of my life, I have high expectations when it comes to service—and this property exceeded them in every way. The experience started with a warm welcome from the seasoned valet team. I was then taken to my room by golf cart, and the gentleman driving had been with the property for many years. He gave me a brief but fascinating history of the inn, pointing out notable moments and details that added a deeper appreciation for the place. It was one of the most genuinely welcoming arrivals I've ever had. The hotel also offers a wonderful variety of wellness activities—free hikes, sessions, and thoughtful amenities that really set the tone for a relaxing stay. Even though I was only there for one night, I was able to experience so much because of how much the property offers. Dining was another highlight. The restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and I loved the little show they put on for guests during meal times. It was such a unique and charming touch that made dining feel even more special. This Marriott property is, in my opinion, the gold standard for hospitality. Everything from the service to the atmosphere reflects a deep commitment to guest experience. I even heard this is one of Mr. Marriott's favorite properties—and it’s easy to see why. I can’t wait to return for a longer stay and experience even more of what the Camelback Inn has to offer!
