Would stay here everytime im in the are, 10/10 I cant wait to see what they do with the whole waterpark!
Overall it was okay. The room was nice enough we got the loft queen with kitchen, but the dishes were not put away and kind of dirty, the tvs were not smart tvs and didnt allow for apps or streaming devices, they didnt even have a hotel channel, and the pull out couch which we were not expecting to be great was awful, the blanket had dried food on one of the corners and it felt like there was sand in the sheets and the mattress felt like it hadn't been changed since it was bought it the 90s. Front desk staff was super friendly but seemed like they had to step away from the desk alot to put out fires, but the worst part was the pool area. The left over padding from the Waterpark they removed looked like it had been molding and all ripped up, there was large piles of sand in the pool and the drains around the pool were starting to rust. The hot tub are was fine but the strange cubbies seemed dirty and the fate wood building part was dirty and not taken care of. I will say the breakfast was fine staff was checking and refreshing it, but it was a very basic set up nothing really to write home about, which is the taste the whole hotel left in my mouth nothing special and over all disappointing. If they would have priced the hotel as an average hotel and not a lux hotel I could have over look a lot of my issues (probably not the pool it was pretty gross) but for the price they are asking they really need to take better care of the facilities.
Room was awesome, along with Brad, who checked us in at the front desk. My only issue was the restaurant inside the hotel closing early with no explanation given. Stayed the night of June 6th, arrived back to our room at 10pm and needed dinner. We stopped by the bar, also run by Brad, who informed us that chef had closed the restaurant early so we could not get dinner. I was so hungry at that point that I didnt push for an explanation, just wanted to get back to my room and order delivery. Read online that the restaurant would be open until midnight, so we kind of expected to be able to get food, and left disappointed. Hotel breakfast was very good and room was very clean, but the restaurant situation left a horrid taste in my mouth. Will probably not return just based on that.
The hotel is near the children’s museum, cedar creek theatre, Denny’s, pick n save. Lots of little convenient places. I checked into my room (King with a bunk bed). The host who checked me in, Brad, was very informative and friendly! The location still seems to be undergoing some construction. The hallway smelled a little odd — I’m not sure how I would describe it. The layout for the bedroom differed from the pictures online. The king bed was in the main room with the Queen sofa bed. The bunk was located in the private room. Beds and pillows were very comfy - very soft cloud-like feel. I wish there was a lock available to make it more private for my husband and since our kids joined us. I understand there were prob safety reasons for not having that & for placing the bunks into the private room. It was very clean & the AC worked well in 80+ degree weather. There was an AC unit in the main room and private room. I did notice that the bathroom wall was peeling. The clock for the microwave and stove were blinking/not set (maybe because of the recent storms?) The swimming area barely had any people which was very nice in my opinion. When you walk in, the room was instantly humid. Water was at a good temp to hop in! We stayed during a rainstorm & the rainstorm caused some leakage through the skylight windows in the pool room. Overall, I would bring my family here again. 😊
I stayed at bantr in Rothschild, WI, from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9, 2026, and it was genuinely the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I booked a specific room layout for my family of four: a king bedroom with a door and a queen loft, because that setup was necessary for our sleeping arrangements with two children. Shortly after arrival, the bathroom attached to the king bedroom developed a strong sewer-gas smell. It started as a dirty-drain odor and became so bad it was nearly vomit-inducing. We also found visible black mold-like growth in the shower, which I photographed. At about 9:45 p.m., I called the front desk. The employee working that night was kind and tried to help, but there was no equivalent room available. Because my kids could not sleep in the room with the sewer odor, we ended up split between multiple rooms: my husband stayed in the original room/loft area, while my kids and I moved to two separate king rooms across the hall. This was not what I booked or paid for, and it left me extremely uneasy because my children are only 9 and 14. We had to move rooms around 11 p.m., and none of us slept well. The next morning, I spent about an hour at the front desk trying to figure out a solution. There still was not an appropriate replacement room. Then, when I tried to shower in one of the replacement rooms, I found more visible black mold-like growth in that shower. I checked my children’s room and found mold-like growth in their shower too. So at that point, the original room had a sewer-gas issue, and both replacement rooms had showers that appeared unsanitary. Later that day, the sewer smell returned in the original room and was even stronger. Maintenance was unavailable by then. We also tried to use the second bathroom in the original room, but the shower water pressure was so low that the water only trickled out and was not usable for showering. There were additional issues as well: animal hair on the carpet in one of the rooms, my children having allergy symptoms, an unleashed dog approaching me and putting its head into my car door, and at least one stairwell light not working at night, which I photographed. What makes this even more concerning is that other online reviews mention similar problems, including odors, mildew/mold concerns, shower problems, poor room condition, cleanliness issues, and rooms not matching what guests expected or paid for. Based on that, it is hard to believe management is unaware of these recurring problems. My experience does not appear to be an isolated incident. We ended up leaving early on Saturday because the stay had become unbearable. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, and I have never experienced anything like this: sewer-gas odor, visible mold-like growth in multiple showers, unusable showers, poor cleaning, and safety concerns all during the same stay. I paid $1,086.20 for a room type that I did not actually get to use as intended. The hotel’s temporary room arrangement did not fix the problem; it only forced my family into a stressful workaround caused by the condition of the original room. If other guests experience similar health, safety, sanitation, or room-condition issues and the hotel does not resolve them fairly, I would strongly encourage them to document everything with photos, keep all receipts and written communication, and consider disputing the charge with their credit card company. Guests should not have to pay full price for unsafe or unsanitary accommodations. I would NOT recommend this hotel based on my experience. UPDATE: Now they say I should reach out to management. I did that on May 10th. I even tried to follow up with a phone call and left a message. No reply! This place is a joke. The Marathon County Health Department has been informed of what happened, and hopefully they will investigate.
We had a wonderful stay here. Brad, who welcomed us, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made check-in quick, easy and comfortable. It is a lovely hotel. I can't wait to see the changes the construction will bring in the future!
Checked in on a Saturday during super time and dualing piano event. Brad was employee we checked in with. Great attention to detail and was appreciative of him seeing we were on bikes and incoming weather. Thanks man!! 👍🏻 Monday check out, we had an employee watching the kitchen, front desk and guests and he was able to help out as well. Great customer service from staff. Its hard to teach that. They either have it or they dont. None of the items a guest could/would complain about noted above were worth noting. As the economy improves I look forward to seeing what is done with pool area space.
