It's past midnight, the air is still warm and heavy, and the last rounds are being poured along Wilton Drive. A few minutes south, cars are pulling into a car park on East Oakland Park Boulevard, where a bathhouse has kept its doors open round the clock since the 1970s. Fort Lauderdale and its gay enclave, Wilton Manors, built their reputation on winter sun, snowbirds and men-only guesthouses with clothing-optional pools. Cruising here is an indoor affair: two 24-hour bathhouses, one sex club, a newer gym-and-steam club, the resorts, and the apps.

Legal in one line: sex between men is legal in Florida and same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015; bathhouses and private clubs are licensed businesses. Sex or exposure in public is not: exposing your sexual organs in a public place is a first-degree misdemeanour under Florida Statute § 800.03 (up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine), and lewd and lascivious behaviour is a second-degree misdemeanour under § 798.02.

How cruising works in Fort Lauderdale

Greater Fort Lauderdale is spread out and car-built. The bars are concentrated on Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors, while the cruising venues are scattered along the main boulevards: one bathhouse downtown, one east of Wilton Manors on the way to the beach, a sex club on West Sunrise Boulevard and a gym club in Oakland Park. You'll need a rideshare between them. Grindr and the other apps are busy, especially in winter, when seasonal residents and visitors swell the population. Many visitors also stay in a men-only guesthouse, where the pool is part of the social scene.

The bathhouses

For full details, see our Fort Lauderdale saunas page.

Clubhouse II · 2650 E Oakland Park Blvd

On East Oakland Park Boulevard, between Wilton Manors and the beach, Clubhouse II is the area's long-running men's bathhouse. In a guide dated May 2026, misterb&b says it has operated since 1976, so its 50th anniversary falls in 2026, and mentions recently upgraded facilities. It's listed as open 24 hours, seven days a week. Travel Gay and The Gay Passport list showers, a sauna, a steam room and a hot pool, with lockers and private rooms to rent.

    • Who goes: a mix of ages, locals, snowbirds and tourists. GayCities says it's popular with the bear and leather crowd, and The Gay Passport has listed Tuesday as leather night and Thursday as bears' night; check current theme nights before you go.
    • Entry: membership is required, with day passes as well as monthly and annual options, and you'll need photo ID to sign up. Cards are accepted. Prices weren't published in the sources we checked, so ask at the desk.
    • Tip: keep your valuables in your locker.

The Club Fort Lauderdale · 110 NW 5th Ave, downtown

Just west of downtown, The Club is a men's club open 24 hours with a heated outdoor pool, a full gym, a sauna, a steam room, a hot pool, a sun terrace, private rooms and dark play areas, according to Travel Gay and The Gay Passport. It's 18+. Like Clubhouse II, it sells day passes and monthly and annual memberships. misterb&b describes the crowd as a mix of regulars, snowbirds and international visitors. The pool and gym make it a place where people spend an afternoon, not just a late hour.

    Sex club and men's clubs

    321 Slammer · 321 W Sunrise Blvd

Close to Wilton Manors on West Sunrise Boulevard, 321 Slammer is a private men's club built for play rather than steam: there's no sauna or steam room. misterb&b lists slings, 22 private booths, glory holes and a video lounge, alongside public and private cruising areas and showers. The Gay Passport calls it more a European-style private men's club than a typical cruise club.

    • House rules: listings in 2026 describe it as cash only and BYOB (bring your own drink, there's no bar), with phones checked at the door. Some attire isn't allowed, so check its dress code first. There's a door fee for private-club entry.
    • Hours (as listed in 2025): closed Monday and Tuesday; Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 7pm–2am; Friday and Saturday 7pm–3am. It's busiest late, after the bars close.

Wilton Social Club · 1061 W Oakland Park Blvd, Oakland Park

Travel Gay calls Wilton Social Club the newest gay venue in Oakland Park, on the border with Wilton Manors. It's a members' club that combines a gym, a yoga room and a meditation room with a steam room, showers, lockers and a large theatre room. It's 18+, alcohol isn't allowed, and membership brings down entry and locker fees. Think of it as a quieter alternative to the downtown bathhouse rather than a sex club, and check its rules before you visit.

    Men-only and clothing-optional resorts

Fort Lauderdale is one of the few US cities with several guesthouses for gay men, and their pools are a social scene of their own. Policies change, so confirm when you book:

    • The Grand Resort and Spa: The Gay Passport lists it as an all-male, adults-only (21+) spa resort with four pools, two blocks from the beach. Out x Out (July 2026) lists its pool deck as clothing-optional, and Nomadic Boys reported in 2024 that the front pool is not.
    • The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa: on the New River, a short ride from Wilton Manors; Out x Out (2026) calls it an adults-only men's guesthouse with a clothing-optional pool.
    • Pineapple Point: in Victoria Park. Nomadic Boys described it in 2024 as male-only and fully clothing-optional; confirm the current policy.

Nudity stops at the property line: what's fine by the pool is an offence in the street or on the public beach.

Changed: Royal Palms, once a well-known gay resort, moved away from that identity more than a decade ago, with a no-nudity "family-friendly" policy reported in 2014. In Miami, AxelBeach closed after five years of operation (OutSFL).

Outdoors: Florida law and the risks

We don't list outdoor cruising spots in Fort Lauderdale and don't give directions to any. The beaches are busy public spaces, and the indoor venues and resorts cover the same ground legally.

The law: under Florida Statute § 800.03, exposing or exhibiting your sexual organs in a public place, or on someone else's private property where you can be seen, in a vulgar or indecent way is a first-degree misdemeanour: up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. § 798.02 makes "open and gross" lewd and lascivious behaviour a second-degree misdemeanour: up to 60 days and a $500 fine. A conviction can follow you, including in future visa and travel applications.

The climate: Florida has passed several laws aimed at LGBTQ+ people since 2023. In August 2026 the full 11th Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the state to enforce its 2023 law penalising venues that admit children to "adult live performances". None of this affects licensed, adults-only clubs, but it's not a state where you'd want to test the police.

Safety: robbery and set-ups are the main risks in quiet places after dark, and with app dates in private homes or hotel rooms. Meet in a bar first, carry little cash, keep your phone charged, tell a friend where you are, and leave if anything feels wrong. In an emergency, call 911.

    Local colour

Wilton Manors is a small city of its own, wedged between Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park, and Wilton Drive is its gay main street, where the bar crawl ends and the cruising begins. The rhythm follows the seasons: from about November to April, the snowbirds fill the condos and resorts and weekends are packed; summer is hotter, quieter and cheaper. Lauderdale Tropical Bear Week, held around late March or early April according to misterb&b, is one of the busiest weeks for the bathhouses. Pride events in Wilton Manors took place over a weekend in mid-June 2026 (listings gave 18–21 June); check the 2027 dates locally. See the gay Fort Lauderdale guide for bars and events.

    Practical tips

    • ID and age: bring a passport or other photo ID. The bathhouses are 18+, and the bars and The Grand Resort are 21+.
    • Money: the bathhouses take cards; 321 Slammer is listed as cash only, so bring cash.
    • Lockers and phones: use the locker for your valuables. Phones aren't welcome in play areas, and 321 Slammer checks them at the door.
    • Drink and drugs: Wilton Social Club bans alcohol; 321 Slammer is BYOB. If G (GHB/GBL) is around, never mix it with alcohol, never dose someone else, and call 911 if someone can't be woken.
    • Consent: "no" is enough, and so is a shake of the head or a hand moved away. Respect it.
    • PrEP and PEP: PEP must start within 72 hours, so out of hours go to a hospital emergency department or an urgent care clinic and ask for it by name. In the daytime, CAN Community Health, which partners with several venues on testing, and the Pride Center at Equality Park, which runs community health programmes, are good first contacts for testing and PrEP.
    • Getting home: distances are long, and there's no practical night public transport between the venues, so use Uber, Lyft or a taxi. Brightline trains link Fort Lauderdale with Miami and Orlando if you're arriving by rail. Don't drive after drinking.

Frequently asked questions

Where can gay men cruise in Fort Lauderdale?

Mostly indoors. The city has two 24-hour men's bathhouses, Clubhouse II on East Oakland Park Boulevard and The Club Fort Lauderdale downtown, plus the 321 Slammer sex club on West Sunrise Boulevard near Wilton Manors. Several men-only guesthouses have clothing-optional pools, and the apps do the rest.

Is Clubhouse II in Fort Lauderdale still open?

Yes. It was listed as open 24 hours in 2026 at 2650 E Oakland Park Blvd, and misterb&b noted in May 2026 that it has operated since 1976, so its 50th anniversary falls in 2026. You need a membership and photo ID to get in.

What is 321 Slammer?

A private men's sex club at 321 W Sunrise Blvd with slings, private booths, glory holes and a video lounge, but no sauna or steam room. Listings in 2026 describe it as cash only and bring-your-own-bottle, with phones checked at the door. It opens in the evening and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Is outdoor cruising legal in Florida?

No. Exposing your sexual organs in a public place is a first-degree misdemeanour under Florida Statute 800.03, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, and lewd behaviour under section 798.02 is a separate misdemeanour. Use the bathhouses and the men-only resorts instead.

Where can I get PEP in Fort Lauderdale?

PEP has to start within 72 hours of the risk, ideally within hours. Out of office hours, go straight to a hospital emergency department or an urgent care clinic and ask for it by name. In the daytime, local LGBTQ+ health providers such as CAN Community Health can advise on testing and PrEP.
