In Palma the afternoon belongs to the old town. The cathedral glows sandstone-gold above the bay, the shutters come down for the heat, and in the narrow lanes around Plaça Major the cafés are still selling the last ensaïmadas of the day. Every few minutes a plane drops low over the eastern shoreline towards Son Sant Joan airport. For a city of its size, Palma's cruising scene is small and easy to read: one gay sauna that opens in the afternoon, two men's cruise clubs that open late in the week. Hours change with the season, so check before you go.

Legal in one line: Spain has had same-sex marriage since 2005, and saunas and cruise clubs are legal, licensed venues for adults. Public sex is only a crime if minors or people with disabilities are present (Criminal Code art. 185), but "obscene exhibition" is a minor offence under the public security law, Ley Orgánica 4/2015 (art. 37.5), with a fine of €100–600 (art. 39.1).

What Palma has

Palma (Ciutat to many Mallorcans) is the capital of the Balearic Islands and the island's only real gay night scene; the big holiday resorts are mainstream. Its cruising happens in three places: Sauna Spartacus in the old town for afternoons, and two cruise clubs, Fucktory and DARK Cruising Bar, for late nights from Wednesday onwards. A Spanish nightlife site's January 2026 roundup of cruising in Mallorca names the same three venues. We found no other darkroom bar, and the gay bar scene is small, so the clubs work as bars too. Bring photo ID: everything below is 18+, and the clubs are men only.

The cruise clubs

Fucktory

Fucktory (Carrer de Ramon Berenguer III 1, local 3, 07003 Palma) is a men's club with an industrial look: a bar on the upper floor, and a cruising area below with a maze, cabins, a sling and open and private spaces. It has a cloakroom, lockers and air conditioning, and condoms and lube are provided. A directory listing based on Google data (hours updated 28 July 2026) gives it as closed on Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday to Sunday from 22:00, until 02:00 on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights and until 03:00 on Friday and Saturday nights. The same listing gives the dress codes: no dress code on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, themed nights on Thursday (toga, naked or neon, for example) and underwear, fetish or naked on Sunday. Travel Gay notes that you can borrow accessories if you arrive without the night's gear. Couple of Men, who visited and updated their guide in December 2025, paid €15 entry including two beers or one stronger drink, rang the doorbell at a plain entrance, and found it packed on a Wednesday at 11pm; they also found the downstairs very dark.

DARK Cruising Bar

DARK Cruising Bar (Carrer de Ticià 22, Palma) is a cruise bar with a bar, darkroom, sling and showers, free condoms and lube, and themed nights; Travel Gay highlights Thursdays. Couple of Men (December 2025) gives the deal on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays as €12 with two drinks, or €20 with unlimited draught beer. We couldn't confirm a current weekly timetable, and themed nights move around, so check the bar's own website or social media for the agenda before you go.

The sauna: Spartacus

Sauna Spartacus (Carrer del Sant Esperit 8, 07002 Palma) sits on a narrow pedestrian street in the historic centre, about two minutes on foot from Plaça Major. A Spanish sauna directory (last updated November 2025) lists it as open every day of the year from 15:00 to 21:00, with entry at €13 and a €10 "customer day" on Wednesdays; you get a towel, slippers and a locker key at reception. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, darkroom, cruising area, private cabins, a TV room and a bar. A January 2026 Spanish roundup describes it as recently renovated and adds a video room and a heated pool. A reader review from November 2025 calls it clean, affordable and mixed in age. One review site suggests bringing your own condoms and lube in case they run out. It's an afternoon place: go after the beach, before dinner.

Sex shops

We found no sex shop with video cabins in Palma that we could confirm in 2025–26. Equis Erotic Store (La Rambla 5) is a shop for toys, condoms and the like, and runs workshops, but it isn't a cruising venue.

Unclear: some Spanish listings still name a Sauna Porto Pi near the Porto Pi shopping centre on Avinguda de Gabriel Roca. A visitor asked in March 2025 whether it had closed after failing to find it, and we found no current trace of it in 2025–26. Treat it as closed.

Practical tips

    • Entry and ID: expect around €13 at Spartacus (€10 on Wednesdays) and €12–20 at the clubs, usually with drinks included, according to 2025 reports. Bring photo ID everywhere.
    • Dress codes: Fucktory and DARK run themed nights, from naked to fetish. Check their social media before you go; clothes and bags go in a locker.
    • Phones and valuables: lock them up. Never take a phone or wallet into a darkroom in an open pocket, and keep an eye on your drink.
    • Consent: a hand moved away means no. You can always say no, step back or leave.
    • Chemsex: never mix GHB/GBL with alcohol. If someone collapses, call 112.
    • PrEP and PEP: PrEP is funded by the Spanish public health system, but in Mallorca it is dispensed through the CAITS sexual-health clinic, and the anti-HIV association ALAS has reported waits of up to a year, so bring your own supply. After a risk, Spain's Ministry of Health advises going to a hospital urgencias (A&E) department: PEP can be started within 72 hours, ideally within the first 6, and lasts 28 days. In Palma, the main public hospital is Hospital Universitari Son Espases.
    • Getting home: the old town is walkable, and Spartacus is in the middle of it. The EMT's NitBus network has run night lines (N1–N4) on Friday, Saturday and pre-holiday nights, from around 23:30 to 06:30, and the coastal lines 25 (to s'Arenal) and 35 (to the Aquarium) have usually stopped at around 00:30, according to local press. Timetables change, so check the EMT Palma website or app. After the clubs close, a taxi is the simplest option.
    • Apps: with so few venues, Grindr and similar apps do a lot of the work in Palma, especially in summer. Meet in a bar first, and don't share your room number on the first chat.

    Local colour

Palma is a city of afternoon rituals. Start with a coffee and an ensaïmada, the spiral pastry dusted with icing sugar, in the old town, walk the lanes between Plaça Major and the cathedral during the hot hours (when Spartacus opens), and eat pa amb oli, bread rubbed with tomato and olive oil and topped with ham or cheese, before a late start at the clubs. Palma Pride 2026

Palma's Pride Day fell on Sunday 28 June 2026 and there were two separate marches: one organised by Ben Amics, the Balearic LGBTI+ association, and one by Orgull Crític, the critical Pride collective. Última Hora reported that the marches called for diversity and the defence of the community's rights and warned about a rise in aggression and social setbacks. In the heat, around 1,500 people joined the two events, more than 1,000 of them at the Ben Amics march, and one of the marches ended with a protest in front of Cort, Palma's city hall. The day passed without incidents. We found no confirmed date for 2027 in November 2026; Pride Day in Palma is usually on or around 28 June.
