Stuttgart sits in a bowl. Locals call it the Kessel, the kettle: vineyards climb the slopes above the city centre, steep public stairways called Stäffele link the hillside streets, and at night the lights of the valley look closer than they are. The Swabians have a name for being careful with money and early to bed, and the gay scene reflects a bit of that. There's no single gay quarter and no all-night cruise bar. What there is: a leather bar run as the clubhouse of the local leather club, a party venue that throws naked and fetish nights at weekends, two gay saunas, and an adult cinema in the centre. Everything is legal, and most of it is a short Stadtbahn ride apart.

Legal in one line: Germany has had same-sex marriage since 2017 and strong anti-discrimination law, and since November 2024 the Self-Determination Act (Selbstbestimmungsgesetz) lets adults change their legal gender by declaration; cruise bars, darkrooms and gay saunas are legal, licensed businesses. Sex in public is a different matter: under §183a StGB (Erregung öffentlichen Ärgernisses, "causing a public nuisance") sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can bring a fine or up to a year in prison.

Cruise bars and party nights

Stuttgart's cruising venues are scattered: one in the south of the city, one near Rotebühlplatz and one in the centre. Plan the evening around which nights each one is open, because none of them opens every night.

Eagle Stuttgart

Eagle Stuttgart (Mozartstraße 51, Stuttgart-Süd) is a men-only gay and leather bar, and the club pub of the leather club LC Stuttgart e.V., according to the Pinksider listings guide. Travel Gay describes it as the meeting place for fetish and leather fans and gay bikers in and around Stuttgart, and lists a maze and cabins. It opens on only four nights: Travel Gay gives Tuesday and Thursday 20:00–01:00 and Friday and Saturday 21:00–02:00, closed Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. In November 2026 Pinksider listed the regular Eagle Tuesday and Eagle Donnerstag bar nights from 20:00. On themed nights, ask at the door what is expected. Visitor ratings on Travel Gay are middling (3.4 from 36 votes).

Club 2B Stuttgart

Club 2B (Marienstraße 38a, Stuttgart-Mitte, a few minutes' walk from Rotebühlplatz) is a gay cruise bar and club that works mainly as a party venue. Pinksider lists it as open on Friday and Saturday from 21:00, with admission until at least 01:00, and on Sunday from 15:00, with admission until at least 17:00. Puppy, rubber and naked parties are its stock in trade. The November 2026 calendar included:

    • Friday 13 November: Naked, Jocks & Sportswear from 21:00 (naked, jocks, swimwear or sportswear).
    • Sunday 15 November: Naked from 15:00, nude only.
    • Friday 20 November: Naked Techno from 21:00, men only.

Because the doors close to newcomers after the listed admission time, arrive early rather than late.

    K29 – Der Zieglerkeller

K29 (Blumenstraße 29) is described by Travel Gay as a long-running gay cruise and fetish bar with a play zone at the back, open on Saturdays from 21:00 to 04:00. That listing was last updated in April 2024, and we couldn't find a 2025–26 programme or event for it, so check that it's open before you make a trip.

    The saunas

Stuttgart has two gay saunas, both with cabins and cruising areas as well as the heat. For more detail see our Stuttgart saunas guide; the essentials are below. Offers change, so check each sauna's own site before you go.

    Viva Sauna

Viva (Charlottenstraße 38, 70182 Stuttgart, near the centre) is listed by the gay directory gay-location as open daily from 14:00 to 23:00, with a Finnish sauna, steam bath, TV room, private cabins and a bar. Pinksider gives it about 330 m², with a cruising and action area. Its regular offers in autumn 2026:

    • Late Night Sauna: €15 for the last two hours, daily 21:00–23:00.
    • Youngsters U30: €13 on Thursdays for men up to 30.
    • Monday and Tuesday: Gender Open, a mixed day for all genders and orientations, with a Couple Day deal of €35 for two. If you want a men-only visit, go Wednesday to Sunday.
    • Bear Sauna: on the last Friday of the month.

    Pour Lui

Pour Lui (Schmidener Straße 51, 70372 Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, across the Neckar from the centre) is listed as open from 10:00 to 21:00, with a steam bath, showers, a bistro lounge and a "fun area". Pinksider's autumn 2026 programme lists a Naked Day on Tuesdays (10:00–21:00), a Mask & Naked Party every second Monday from 18:00 to 22:00 (the next was listed for 9 November 2026), Daddys Wellcome on Thursdays at €18 for men over 40, and a daily under-28 price of €10.

    Cinema and shop

    Blue Box

Blue Box (Steinstraße 15, 70173 Stuttgart, city centre) is an adult cinema and shop with cruising over three floors, according to gay-location, and is listed as open daily from 10:00 to 23:00. It isn't a gay-only venue: Pinksider describes it as for gay, straight, bi and trans visitors alike. It's the one daytime option in the centre if the saunas aren't your thing.

Closed: gay-location lists the cruising cinemas Crazy Video Show (Rotebühlplatz 1) and Insider Video (Böblinger Straße 185) as permanently closed. Ignore older guides that still send you there.

Outdoors: the law and the risks

Older internet guides list outdoor spots and public toilets around Stuttgart, and a 2019 report in the Stuttgarter Zeitung found that most of these meetings had moved to apps and online forums. We don't give directions. Parks, woodland car parks and public toilets are used by everyone, and the law is clear:

    • §183a StGB (Criminal Code): sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can be punished with a fine or up to one year in prison.
    • §183 StGB separately covers indecent exposure (exhibitionistische Handlungen) by men.
    • §118 OWiG (Administrative Offences Act, Belästigung der Allgemeinheit): grossly improper behaviour that annoys or endangers the public can be fined even when it isn't a crime.

After dark, isolated spots are also where robberies happen. If you go anyway: daylight or dusk only, phone and cash at home, nothing you can't afford to lose, and leave if a situation feels wrong.

    Practical tips

    • Entry and cash: the saunas charge entry, with cheaper rates for young men and late arrivals (Viva's late entry is €15). Bring some cash (Bargeld) in case card payment isn't possible.
    • Dress codes: Club 2B's parties and many Eagle nights have codes: naked, jocks, rubber, leather. Read the night's listing first. If you're turned away, it isn't personal.
    • Lockers and phones: check clothes, phone and wallet into the Garderobe or a Spind before the darkroom. No photos, ever.
    • Consent: a hand moved away, or a "nein", means no. You can always leave.
    • Chems: never mix GHB/GBL with alcohol, never dose for someone else, and call 112 in an emergency.
    • Testing: the city health department's HIV/STI service (Gesundheitsamt, Schloßstraße 91, Stuttgart-West; S-Bahn Feuersee) offers free, anonymous counselling and tests by appointment. Book by phone on Mondays and Tuesdays, 13:30–15:00, on 0711 216-59444. Aidshilfe Stuttgart (Johannesstraße 19) offers advice and support.
    • PEP: after a risk, start post-exposure prophylaxis as soon as possible, ideally within hours and no later than 72 hours. The city's health service sends people to the interdisciplinary emergency department (Interdisziplinäre Notaufnahme) of the Klinikum Stuttgart – Katharinenhospital (Kriegsbergstraße 60, near the Hauptbahnhof; switchboard 0711 278-0), which a national list of round-the-clock PEP clinics also includes. PrEP is prescribed in Germany through HIV specialist practices.
    • Getting home: the VVS says S-Bahn trains run hourly through the night at weekends and before public holidays. The SSB city night buses (Nachtbus) run every night from the Schlossplatz: hourly from 01:00 to 03:00 on weeknights and about every 30 minutes at weekends and on holiday nights. Plan your route in the VVS app before you go out, especially for Bad Cannstatt.
    • Apps: Romeo and Grindr are both widely used in Germany.

A Stuttgart night, the local way

Eat Swabian before you go out: Maultaschen, big pasta parcels filled with meat and spinach, served in broth or fried with onions, or a plate of Käsespätzle, soft egg noodles baked with cheese and crisp onions. Vineyards grow inside the city limits, so drink the local wine: a glass of light red Trollinger is the classic order. In season, look out for a Besen, a winemaker's pop-up tavern marked by a broom hung over the door, where you share long tables with strangers. Then take the Stadtbahn down into the valley for the bars and saunas.

    Pride: CSD Stuttgart 2026

Stuttgart's CSD comes at the end of a couple of weeks of cultural events, and in 2026 the organisers, IG CSD Stuttgart, marked their 25th anniversary. The CSD demonstration took place on Saturday 25 July 2026 under the motto "Ohne uns kein Wir! Füreinander laut, miteinander stark." ("Without us, there is no 'we'! Loud for each other, strong together."). Floats lined up from 11:30 on Rotebühlstraße, the march set off at 14:00 and wound via Rotebühlplatz, Eberhardstraße, Marktstraße, Münzstraße and Karlsplatz to the Schlossplatz, where it ended around 17:00 with a closing rally. According to the Stuttgarter Zeitung, 156 groups had registered (161 the year before). Because of the anniversary, the Hocketse street festival ran for three days: concerts, comedy and drag on the Marktplatz on the Friday evening, an open-air disco on the Schillerplatz after the march, and the Markt der Möglichkeiten, a fair of community groups, on Münzstraße on the Sunday. For 2027 dates, check the CSD Stuttgart website and the Stuttgart city page.

Frequently asked questions

Where is gay cruising in Stuttgart?

Indoors, and spread across the city rather than in one quarter. The leather bar Eagle is in Stuttgart-Süd on Mozartstraße, Club 2B holds its parties on Marienstraße in the centre, and the Blue Box cinema is on Steinstraße. The two gay saunas are Viva on Charlottenstraße near the centre and Pour Lui in Bad Cannstatt.

Which gay sauna in Stuttgart should I choose?

Viva on Charlottenstraße is the central one, open daily from 14:00 to 23:00, with cheaper late entry from 21:00. Pour Lui on Schmidener Straße in Bad Cannstatt opens earlier, from 10:00, and runs naked days and mask parties. Viva is open to all genders on Mondays and Tuesdays, so pick another day for a men-only visit.

When is Club 2B in Stuttgart open?

Club 2B runs as a party venue rather than a nightly bar. Listings give Friday and Saturday from 21:00, with admission until at least 01:00, and Sunday from 15:00, with admission until at least 17:00. Most nights have a dress code, such as naked, jocks or rubber, so check the night's listing before you go.

Is outdoor cruising legal in Stuttgart?

Not without risk. Under §183a of the German Criminal Code, sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can bring a fine or up to a year in prison, and lesser cases can be fined as a nuisance under §118 of the Administrative Offences Act. Parks and car parks are public places and easy places to be robbed after dark, so the bars and saunas are the safer choice.

When was CSD Stuttgart 2026?

The CSD demonstration took place on Saturday 25 July 2026. It set off at 14:00 from Rotebühlstraße and ended on the Schlossplatz with a closing rally, under the motto "Ohne uns kein Wir!". The three-day street festival, the Hocketse, ran around the Marktplatz, Schillerplatz and Münzstraße that weekend.
