Late afternoon in the Ville Rose: the brick of the Capitole glows pink and then orange, students spill down to the quays of the Garonne with a bottle and a baguette, and the café terraces around Place Wilson fill up with people who are in no hurry to go home. A few streets back from the boulevards, behind ordinary shop fronts, Toulouse keeps a small, compact cruising scene. It comes down to three addresses: one cruising club at the back of a sex shop and two gay saunas, all in the centre and all within walking distance of each other. It is a modest scene for France's fourth-largest city, and the apps do a lot of the work, but the venues open early and stay open late.
Legal in one line: France decriminalised sex between men in 1791 and opened marriage and adoption to same-sex couples in 2013; cruising clubs and gay saunas are legal private venues for adults (18+). Sex in public is not: under Article 222-32 of the Penal Code, sexual exhibition imposed on others in a place visible to the public carries up to one year in prison and a €15,000 fine.
How cruising works in Toulouse
Everything is in the city centre, on the right bank of the Garonne. The KS Sauna is near Place Wilson, Les Thermes is on Place Belfort close to Jean-Jaurès metro (lines A and B), and Red Cruising Club is behind a sex shop on rue Lafon. The club is open from morning to the small hours, and the saunas from midday, so you can plan an afternoon as easily as a late night. Many evenings start at a bar; the list is in our Toulouse bars guide.
Cruising club and sex shop
Red Cruising Club and Lynx Store · 2 rue Lafon
Red Cruising Club is a cruising space at the back of the Lynx Store (also listed as Lynx Vidéo), an adult shop at 2 rue Lafon; you go in through the shop. Travel Gay, which updated its Toulouse page in March 2026, lists backrooms, a cinema room and glory holes and regular events, and gives opening hours of 10:00–02:00 every day; misterb&b also lists it as open every day of the year. Travel Gay gives entry at €10 for the day, with free entry for men under 25, couples and single women, and a €22 duo ticket that also covers a visit to Les Thermes. Free entry for couples and women means the crowd isn't always men only, so check the event programme on the club's website for gay-only nights.
The shop itself sells toys, accessories, poppers, magazines and DVDs, and misterb&b describes video cabins and two cinema rooms. Older reviews were critical of how clean the cabins were, and we found no recent reviews of the shop, so judge for yourself on the spot.
The saunas
Both of Toulouse's gay saunas have cruising areas and cabins, so they are a big part of the picture. More detail is on our Toulouse saunas page.
KS Sauna · 6 rue Saint-Ferréol
The KS Sauna, near Place Wilson, is described by misterb&b as about 400 m² with a dry sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a jacuzzi and a sling; Travel Gay adds private cabins, lockers, a bar and café with light snacks, and massage. It runs a calendar of themed days, including naturist Adam sessions, Blackout nights, young men's Wednesdays and bear events. Travel Gay lists €5 entry for under-25s on Wednesdays; we couldn't find a current standard price or published hours. Visitors were still posting reviews in August 2026, one advising you to check the event calendar first because each theme draws a different crowd, and another recommending late afternoon or evening.
Les Thermes · 8 place Belfort
Les Thermes is a men-only sauna in the premises of the old Colonial sauna, taken over and renovated. misterb&b describes about 500 m² over two floors; Travel Gay gives about 400 m² with a jacuzzi, communal showers, a hammam, a Finnish sauna, a restaurant area and several levels of themed cabins. The listed hours differ: misterb&b gives 12:00–00:00 from Sunday to Tuesday and 12:00–02:00 from Wednesday to Saturday, while Travel Gay gives 12:00–02:00 every day. Travel Gay also mentions a Naked Party on Thursdays from 19:00 and a two-for-one Wednesday offer, but its listing dates from 2024, so treat these as a guide. The nearest metro is Jean-Jaurès.
Closed: the Colonial sauna on Place Belfort has become Les Thermes, and the Pharaon sauna was reported closed in 2020. Older guides may still list both.
Outdoors
Toulouse has riverbanks, parks and the Canal du Midi towpaths, and like every big city it has places with a reputation. We don't describe them here. The legal options above are open every day from the morning or midday, and the law is clear.
The law and your safety:
- The law: Article 222-32 of the Penal Code punishes sexual exhibition imposed on others in a place accessible to the public with up to a year in prison and a €15,000 fine. Since 2018 the article states that an explicit sexual act, real or simulated, done in view of others counts even if no one is naked. Parks, riverbanks, towpaths and car parks are all public places.
- Robbery and attacks: dark, isolated spots are where thieves and homophobic attackers look for people who won't go to the police. Take only your phone, a card and a little cash, and tell a friend where you are going.
- Police: if the police stop you, stay calm, be polite and show ID. A homophobic attack can be reported at any police station; it is an aggravating circumstance under French law.
- Emergency: call 112 (police 17, ambulance 15).
- Getting there: for Les Thermes, use Jean-Jaurès (metro A and B); the KS Sauna and the Lynx Store are a short walk from there and from Place Wilson.
- Getting home: Tisséo's metro usually runs until about midnight, and until about 03:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights; the Thursday extension was added in November 2020, according to Le Journal Toulousain. Hours change for works and events, so check tisseo.fr on the day. After that, take a taxi or a ride-hailing app.
- Entry and cash: expect around €10 at Red Cruising Club, and bring photo ID for any under-25 deal at the club or the saunas. Carry some euros in small notes.
- Lockers and phones: lock away your phone and wallet before going into the cabins or backrooms, and keep the key on your wrist. Never take photos inside.
- Consent: "non" (no) is enough, in a backroom as anywhere else, and you can always move away or leave. Tell staff if someone ignores it.
- PEP: after a risk, go to a hospital emergency department (urgences) as soon as possible, ideally within four hours and no later than 48 hours (the window given by the French health portal sante.fr), and ask for TPE (traitement post-exposition). The main option at night is the adult emergency department at CHU Toulouse's Hôpital Purpan. On weekdays, the free CeGIDD sexual health centre run by CHU Toulouse offers testing, PrEP and care after an exposure; check its current address and hours on the CHU's website before you go.
- Chems: if GHB/GBL is around, never mix it with alcohol and never dose for someone else. Call 15 or 112 in an emergency.
- Bonjour / Bonsoir – hello / good evening (say it at the door). Merci – thank you.
- C'est combien, l'entrée ? – how much is entry?
- La drague – cruising. Un lieu de drague – a cruising spot.
- Backroom – darkroom. Cabine – cabin. Casier – locker. Serviette – towel.
- Capote or préservatif – condom.
- Non, merci – no, thanks. Arrête – stop.
- TPE – PEP. Dépistage – testing. Urgences – emergency department.
- Le dernier métro – the last metro. Une chocolatine – a pain au chocolat, the Toulouse way.
A Toulouse evening, the local way
Start with an apéro on the banks of the Garonne at the Quai de la Daurade or the Prairie des Filtres, where half the city seems to sit on the grass as the sun goes down behind the Dôme de la Grave. Eat cassoulet, the slow-baked bean stew with duck confit and saucisse de Toulouse, the coarse local pork sausage, or simply a plate of that sausage grilled with aligot, cheesy mashed potato from the Aveyron. The drink is red from Fronton, just north of the city, made from the Négrette grape. Toulouse also has its own sweet: candied violets, sold in little tins all over town. And if you want a fight, ask for a pain au chocolat: here it is a chocolatine.
Practical tips
Toulouse Pride 2026
The 31st Marche des Fiertés took place on Saturday 6 June 2026, organised by the Pride Toulouse collective with the city's support. It left from Place du Capitole, which also hosted an associations' village and an after-party. Local press reported about 30,000 participants and an edition focused on fighting LGBT-phobia, which its co-president called "an act of resistance". The day was marred by incidents: a man was arrested in the march, and in the evening a group of mostly teenage youths caused trouble on Place du Capitole, leading to several arrests. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.

Frequently asked questions
Where is gay cruising in Toulouse?
Indoors, in the city centre. Red Cruising Club, behind the Lynx sex shop at 2 rue Lafon, has backrooms, a cinema room and glory holes, and the two gay saunas, the KS Sauna and Les Thermes, are a short walk away. The rest happens on the apps.
Is there a gay sauna in Toulouse?
Yes, two. The KS Sauna at 6 rue Saint-Ferréol, near Place Wilson, runs themed days and was being reviewed by visitors in summer 2026. Les Thermes, at 8 place Belfort near Jean-Jaurès metro, is a men-only sauna over two floors in the premises of the old Colonial sauna.
Is outdoor cruising legal in France?
Sex between men is legal; sex where the public can see it is not. Article 222-32 of the Penal Code sets up to a year in prison and a €15,000 fine for sexual exhibition imposed on others, and parks, riverbanks and car parks count as public places.
Where can I get PEP in Toulouse?
At any hour, at a hospital emergency department such as the one at CHU Toulouse's Purpan hospital: ask for TPE, and go quickly, because it has to start within 48 hours. On weekdays the CHU's free CeGIDD sexual health centre also handles testing, PrEP and exposures.
When was Toulouse Pride in 2026?
The 31st Marche des Fiertés took place on Saturday 6 June 2026, leaving from Place du Capitole, where there was also an associations' village. Local press reported about 30,000 people. The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing.
