Samtökin '78

Samtökin '78 is Iceland's national queer organisation, founded in 1978. Its office and community space are at Suðurgata 3 in central Reykjavik, near the city pond. It runs free counselling (personal, social and legal) for queer people and their families, education work in schools and workplaces, a queer library, peer-support groups including trans groups, and a youth programme. For visitors it is the best place to ask about what is happening in the local community, from group meetings to Reykjavik Pride (Hinsegin dagar) in August. Check the website for opening times and group schedules before dropping in.
