Yard 32 si trova al numero 32 di Strait Street, il vicolo largo quanto una spalla che divenne sfrenato nella prima metà del XX secolo come quartiere dei divertimenti per le flotte mediterranee, pieno di music hall, bariste e confini sfumati. La rinascita della strada nell'ultimo decennio è stata guidata da piccoli bar come questo, e Yard 32 porta bene la sua storia. Il menu è incentrato sul gin: oltre 200 imbottigliamenti, serviti con una carta di una quarantina di tapas di ispirazione maltese e spagnola. C'è musica dal vivo molte sere e tavoli nel vicolo, dove i muri di pietra tengono lontana la calura estiva e le conversazioni passano da un tavolo all'altro, che le abbiate invitate o meno. Il bar si propone come gay-friendly e compare nelle guide LGBTQ+ di Malta, e in una strada con il passato di Strait Street, questo sembra meno uno slogan di marketing e più una continuità. Gli orari vanno dal mercoledì alla domenica dalle 18:30 circa fino all'1:00. Abbinatelo a Kween, a due strade di distanza su Merchant Street, per il compatto circuito queer di La Valletta.

We saw board on the main street , and came a bit before 5pm, for one round, and we stayed for a bit longer, because we really like it. The street is quiet, not busy and you can have normal conversation, which we notice is very rare in Valletta in the previous places that we visit. However, the downside was when the bar next door opened around 6pm and started to put very loud music, in that moment the music in this bar started to go up as well, and then it's started to mix, and it lost the vibe we had until that moment.

If you’re in Valletta, Yard 32 on Strait Street is a must-visit. The selection of gins (over 200!) and artisanal tonics is mind-blowing, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable—they don't just pour a drink, they craft it in massive balloon glasses with custom garnishes that perfectly complement the botanicals. Pair your drink with a few of their fresh, homemade tapas (the selection is huge), grab a table outside on the historic street, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Excellent service, vibrant energy, and easily one of the best bars in Malta. We will definitely be back!
