Le Yard 32 se trouve au numéro 32 de Strait Street, la ruelle large comme une épaule qui a fait des ravages dans la première moitié du XXe siècle en tant que quartier des bars pour les flottes méditerranéennes, pleine de music-halls, de serveuses et de lignes floues. Le renouveau de la rue au cours de la dernière décennie a été mené par de petits bars comme celui-ci, et le Yard 32 porte bien son histoire. Le menu est construit autour du gin : plus de 200 bouteilles, servies avec une carte d'une quarantaine de tapas d'inspiration maltaise et espagnole. Il y a de la musique live de nombreux soirs et des tables dans la ruelle, où les murs en pierre protègent de la chaleur estivale et où les conversations portent d'une table à l'autre, que vous les ayez invitées ou non. Le bar se positionne comme gay-friendly et apparaît dans les guides LGBTQ+ de Malte, et dans une rue avec le passé de Strait Street, cela ressemble moins à une ligne marketing qu'à une continuité. Les horaires vont du mercredi au dimanche de 18h30 à environ 1h du matin. Associez-le à Kween, à deux rues de là sur Merchant Street, pour le circuit queer compact de La Valette.

We saw board on the main street , and came a bit before 5pm, for one round, and we stayed for a bit longer, because we really like it. The street is quiet, not busy and you can have normal conversation, which we notice is very rare in Valletta in the previous places that we visit. However, the downside was when the bar next door opened around 6pm and started to put very loud music, in that moment the music in this bar started to go up as well, and then it's started to mix, and it lost the vibe we had until that moment.

If you’re in Valletta, Yard 32 on Strait Street is a must-visit. The selection of gins (over 200!) and artisanal tonics is mind-blowing, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable—they don't just pour a drink, they craft it in massive balloon glasses with custom garnishes that perfectly complement the botanicals. Pair your drink with a few of their fresh, homemade tapas (the selection is huge), grab a table outside on the historic street, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Excellent service, vibrant energy, and easily one of the best bars in Malta. We will definitely be back!
