リュブリャナLGBT映画祭は1984年に始まりました。ヨーロッパで最も古いゲイ・レズビアン映画祭であり、スロベニアで最も古い国際映画祭でもあります。この映画祭は、芸術団体ŠKUCの映画部門が運営しています。ŠKUCは、同年にスロベニアの同性愛者運動を立ち上げる上で重要な役割を果たした団体です。リュブリャナ市と文化省が共同で資金を提供しています。
上映会は12月、世界エイズデー（12月1日）前後の約1週間にわたって行われます。上映の多くはSlovenska kinotekaで行われますが、Kinodvorではオープニングが開催されたこともあります。サイドイベントはMetelkovaにあるKlub Tiffanyで行われます。Metelkovaはかつての軍兵舎跡地で、現在はクィアなナイトライフの中心地となっています。国際審査員によりPink Dragon賞が授与されます。
2025年12月に開催された第41回映画祭では、コンペティション部門に長編作品16本が出品されました。授賞式は12月14日にCinemathequeで行われました。
その週、Kinodvorの外壁に掲げられていたレインボーフラッグが破壊され、主催者は警察に通報しました。
第42回映画祭は2026年12月に予定されていますが、当サイトが確認した時点では公式日程は発表されていません。
