Hotel Santiago

Right at check-in, they wanted to charge us again for the room, which we had already paid online. We only noticed this because we looked closely at the card reader. The hotel itself looked quite nice, but as soon as there are three of you, you're given an apartment in a house a hundred meters away. This apartment was incredibly run-down, the furniture was almost broken, the water pressure was barely there, and sometimes there was no water at all. And this isn't because of Cape Verde! All the other accommodations were significantly better.

Staff was terrific. They took my heavy suitcase up three floors to my room. Because the elevator wasn’t working. Hotel is popular with tourists, so make sure you get to breakfast buffet before they do.

The elevator is broken, the pool is so dirty it's unusable, the sun loungers are broken, the bar is closed, the restaurant is closed, the staff is unfriendly, the lockers aren't attached to the wall, the floor in the room is broken, the view is of a blank wall, and according to the staff, you should always take a taxi at night because it's too unsafe. This is definitely not a place you want to be.

Good location, quiet area, unfortunately the elevator wasn't working, which made it difficult to carry large suitcases up the stairs. The reception staff are lacking in customer service, ignoring us, except for one very nice lady. The breakfast was mediocre, with stewed ketchup, fried egg and sausage; for those who aren't fans of ketchup, the options are a bit limited.

I booked through a platform that didn't distinguish between Hotel Santiago and Santiago Apartments, although I must say the breakfast was always great and varied, and I also want to highlight the friendliness and professionalism of the employee Jocelina. The truth is, we went to apartments that aren't in the hotel but across the street, 200 meters away. We stayed on the 3rd floor without an elevator, and in 5 days there was only one cleaning service. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable. The only positive thing is the location. Close to several embassies and Kebra Canela beach.
