It's very big and feels like a maze; there's all sorts of people there—good-looking, young, and mature. I had a good time, but honestly, you get tired of going up and down and walking too much...it wasn't my favorite.
The building is stylish as everyone said, but the layout is too complicated (I guess most people cannot visualize the full map of it within a few hours of visit). The cleanliness level is ok. Note that Austrians are extremely reserved, and they only become unreserved in those most uncomfortable rooms (extremely dark / hot / humid rooms), so if you want to see "details" of local Austrians at their bright comfortable lounge area, you may be disappointed.
I have visited many saunas across Europe and have never experienced anything like this. As soon as I arrived, the receptionist’s attitude felt unusually confrontational. Although I was clearly alone and nobody was behind me, he repeatedly questioned whether I was really by myself. He then asked for proof of age. I am 28 years old and had no problem showing my passport. Since I have thousands of photos on my phone, I used the search function to find it quickly. The searched term was highlighted on the screen, which is a completely normal smartphone feature. For reasons I still do not understand, he became suspicious because of that highlight and repeatedly questioned the authenticity of my document. He even searched Google for examples of my country's passports while I was standing in front of him. After I removed the search highlight, he finally realized that nothing was wrong. At that point I explained that this is simply how smartphone search functions work. Instead of acknowledging the misunderstanding professionally, he appeared offended and continued speaking to me in a dismissive manner. He then asked whether it was my first visit. I replied that it would probably be my last. Immediately afterwards, despite having already accepted my payment, he refunded me and refused entry, claiming that my attitude was the problem. I have never been refused entry to any sauna before, nor have I ever had my identification questioned in such an unusual way. The entire interaction left me feeling unwelcome, singled out, and treated with a level of suspicion that other customers around me did not appear to experience. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. If you wanna throw 30 euros to the trash, go. The entire building interiors look amazing, but to be honest, almost anything in Vienna old town looks like a palace. The stuff is TERRIBLE and RUDE, the guy in the front desk doesn’t even say hi, he just says the price once you approach the front desk, the even look mad at you for coming to the building. The place is giant, maybe could have space for 1000 guys but in reality there’s hardly anyone, plus those are +50. PLUS is really DIRTY we found blood in the pool!!!! There was a cabin that smelled like a dead body. The experience was AWFUL, never going back there again!
While returning the slippers and bath towel to the counter, the "empathic," oversized guy at reception shouted in a completely disrespectful, impossible (Viennese) tone, "THIS IS IN THERE!" 1. Am I his spittoon or am I a customer? 2. Are we in kindergarten? 3. Customers are there to be ripped off, €30 is ridiculously expensive. Who does this guy think is paying him?
I was there on Friday, pity it’s only till 00:00. Very historical and a peace of art itself. It’s a really huge sauna, the naked area is nice, a lot of people inside and of course someone took my towel. Smoking are is good just a bit too much light. All kind of steam, bar area and dark rooms are nice.
