Hotel Ambiente Berlin City

Excellent value for money. The hotel was clean and perfectly located close to public transport, shopping, and great dining options.

I should have read the reviews more carefully... I expected what the photos on booking.com showed—far from it. I traveled with my small, disabled dog, who needs a dog stroller for longer distances. I checked into the 4th floor. At first, I was surprised by the furnishings; they were very basic and didn't match the photos. They were superficially clean, though the stains on the carpet surprised me. For €25 per night for the dog, I would have expected meticulous cleanliness. Then, the elevator was immediately out of order. After some insistence, I was allowed to move to the 2nd floor; the 1st floor was supposedly occupied. I'm not so sure about that now...more on that later. The first room reeked of smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. The receptionist said they were rooms for tradespeople—how could they avoid that? Right. I was immediately offered another room. This one smelled of lilac spray; they had tried to mask the smoke smell. I went back. I aired it out. Then I see a jumble of cigarette butts on the porch roof. Then I look closer: the windows seem to have never been cleaned, there are stains on the carpet, and the bathroom radiator is filthy. When I complain, they clean, finally just one window, the cigarette butts are gone, and the radiator is clean. In the evening, I see young people waiting for Uber. I ask the receptionist if I should expect noise at night, as the room is right next to the stairwell. "Don't worry," she says, "there aren't many people here." (Then maybe there would have been a room available, albeit a larger one, on the first floor?) I ask the receptionists to contact the owner; I should do it myself, via the website, as he's on vacation. Right, on vacation, when there's an urgent need for action. There were families with strollers and senior citizens on the fourth floor! And the elevator kept breaking down! When I complained, they just shrugged and turned away. I was woken up at 2:30 in the morning by the three girls, along with a couple of guys shouting their names down the hall. I opened the door and asked the guy if it would be quiet now. Of course, no answer. The next day I left. No response from the owner, booking.com couldn't come to an agreement with the hotel, and I was fed up with lugging the dog cart around. But not with Berlin. Goodbye.

Very good hotel

I stayed here for a week and everything was fine until the hotel receptionist, who couldn't even speak proper German, charged me 7 euros for two tea bags. I asked him if I could have some hot water and two tea bags, mind you, since the whole thing costs less than 2 euros at the supermarket. He replied, "Yes, I'll make myself some tea." I walked out of the dining area and came back to me and said, "Oh, you have tea, that costs extra." That's an outrage beyond belief! I then tried to contact the hotel owner, but he said, "No, I don't know, no boss, no idea, bye." Never in my life will I stay here again, and to charge 25 euros per night for parking spaces that are only 2 meters wide is simply outrageous! 7.50 euros for two tea bags!!!

Great breakfast buffet. Good room. Good location.

It was okay. Unfortunately, the toilet leaked overnight, and even the door didn't dampen the sound. The noise from the hallway was also very loud. I haven't slept so badly in a long time. But it was alright. It was definitely clean, and my request for a double bed as a single person was granted.

I'm very satisfied; everything was clean, and we were even able to get a room at short notice at 10 pm :) It also had a balcony and a clean bathroom. Parking is easy there, and even free on the street at night.

Nice hotel, we enjoyed it here. Location is amazing, quiet. Only shower design was a little weird, not very comfortable for grown man. But that's all, everything else was great. Good hotel.
