Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bergen

I booked room directly in Radisson app and but just before few days of my trip they cancelled my booking just by sending one email without even arranging any alternative rooms stating due to some labor conflict hotel is closed, this is really unprofessional from their end, i don’t use any third party application for booking to avoid this kind of experience, even with direct booking this kind of situation unacceptable, in the last moment I could not find any good hotel, for a far inferior hotel I had to pay double cost of what I paid for Radisson blue because of their problem. No fault from my end.

The booking was made directly through Radisson. Problems arose even before our arrival, as the payment had been debited, yet the reservation was not visible in the app. This led to two months of back-and-forth discussions with the hotel and Radisson HQ. Now, just four days before our scheduled arrival, the booking has been cancelled with the following explanation: "Apologies, we are on strike." As for when we might get our money back? "Perhaps in 14 days." As a Platinum member, Radisson is obligated to find suitable alternative accommodation; yet here, too, the hotel's response was: "We can't do anything; it's your problem." This marks the very last time I will ever book with Radisson. You have lost another Platinum member, and I have now engaged legal counsel.

We stayed at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Bergen. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, surrounded by beautiful buildings, and it’s perfectly located near the waterfront and the city center. Everything is within easy reach, which makes it very convenient. The lobby is big, and the staff were friendly. The breakfast is great, and the restaurant overall is really nice, with a wide choice of food and drinks. The room was very good and spacious—it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The only downside is the gym. It’s quite small and doesn’t have enough equipment to train properly, so it feels more like a basic setup than a real hotel gym. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend it. It’s not the cheapest option, but the quality and location make it worth it.

I booked over three months in advance, then they cancelled my booking with three days notice. I had already had issues with this booking (through Booking.com) as my personal details were shared and I was contacted by someone who had my name, number, booking reference and the dates I was due to stay at this hotel and they said I needed to confirm my card details. I contacted the hotel to check this was a scam and not them. They never replied. Thankfully Booking.com replied to confirm it was a scam. However, I was disappointed from the radio silence from Radisson until they messaged to say they were going to cancel my booking due to strikes. With just three days notice, the price of alternative accommodation was much higher and there was not as much choice.

Ok, I don’t usually write reviews unless something is particularly good, but this experience has changed that. First off, let me say the location and the rooms are nice. If you get to stay in them. We will get to that. We booked a stay for 3 nights, knowing that the 2nd night we were going to stay in Flam but we were on a long vacation and wanted to just leave our stuff in the room and come back whenever we wanted. So, imagine our surprise when we returned to Bergen to be met by the hotel manager saying we had to grab our bags and leave the hotel due to a strike by the hospitality workers union. He had no one to run his hotel, so we had to repack and leave. To be fair, he was extremely nice and helped find us a place nearby. Again, the staff that remained there were great. However, the ridiculously lazy staff that caused the strike should all be fired. If you have a problem with your wages, work harder and make yourself valuable. Later on I saw some of the workers who were striking sitting in front of the hotel we ended up at, at all they were doing was sitting there in a green vest. No wonder they need a union, they are lazy as hell. I’d fire them all. I loved Norway, but if that’s how they respect people I’ll pass on ever going back. Again, the manager was great, wish I’d have gotten his name. But the hotel workers union should not ruin peoples vacation if they expect anyone to ever patronize the country again. Very shortsighted and selfish.

Wonderful location, extremely expensive tourist hotel (not worth the price), small standard rooms, good bathroom, terrible internal view, disturbed by seagulls 24/7. Superb breakfast. A tip for more adventurous couples, a few hundred meters and look for a small hotel in the enchanting hill.

We could not fault our stay at Raddison Blu in Bergen. The staff are really the shining star here...so helpful and accomodating. We really appreciated your help and support. Rooms were comfy and clean and all you could expect. Location was amazing..right on the Brygge and bus links for airport and other spots right outside the door. Walking distance from the cruise dock. Dont hesitate to book here. Amazing breakfast too. Thank you for helping us have an amazing time in Bergen.

Due to strike of labour union, we were kicked out before check out day. Hotel does not care about where we will stay. Also, we have not been reimbursed due to cancellation of our remaining days. We have to get compansated.

As a result: - We were required to terminate our stay earlier than planned, - The accommodation service for the night of 19 April was not provided back, - No alternative arrangement or support was offered at the time.
