Sobre este lugar Livraria Antinous LGBTQ+

Antinous is Spain's oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop, open at its current Josep Anselm Clavé address since 1996 and — through its incorporation of the earlier Sagesse bookshop (founded 1978, closed 1993) — carrying a lineage that runs 47 years, predating Spain's 1979 decriminalisation of homosexuality by a year. The shop is small — one long room, floor-to-ceiling shelves, a coffee bar at the back — and specialises in Spanish and Catalan queer literature that mainstream bookshops still under-stock. Its inventory rotates roughly 8,000 titles at any time, with a strong emphasis on Iberian LGBTQ+ writing (Terenci Moix, Manuel Puig, Eduardo Mendicutti, Cristina Domenech) and Catalan-language originals not commonly stocked elsewhere. Antinous has functioned as a movement hub as well as a bookshop. The Casal Lambda Barcelona monthly reading group has met here since 1998; local writers use the coffee bar as a de facto office; the ground-floor exhibition space rotates queer visual artists roughly six times a year. During Barcelona Pride the shop hosts panel discussions and author events over the whole week. Open Monday-Saturday 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-21:00 (siesta hours vary); closed Sundays. Drassanes metro is three minutes' walk. Free. The Josep Anselm Clavé address is at the southern edge of the Gothic Quarter, close to La Rambla — an easy detour on any Barcelona sightseeing day.

She's lovely and the service is fantastic. The book catalog is great, with a wide variety of genres for all ages, as well as very specific LGBTQ+ themed books. A must-visit whenever we're in Barcelona. I wish there were more places this authentic with such a great atmosphere.

One of my favorite bookstores. They have everything in different languages, the staff are wonderful, they make recommendations, they accompany you, and they even give you your own space—a place where you feel comfortable. I highly recommend it.

A wide variety of LGBTQ+ themed books. That's all the good I can say. I found a book and went to the staff to ask two questions about it, and they interrupted me three times, rudely asking, "Are you going to want it or not?" They just wanted to take my money or leave me alone. It completely put me off buying anything. They weren't friendly, and honestly, friendliness is one of the things you appreciate most in small shops, because if I'm going to receive such cold treatment, I'd rather shop at large companies... I see from the reviews that this isn't an isolated incident. As for the shop itself, the place is small and narrow; it's difficult to move around without knocking things over. It has its charm... but once there were five of us customers, it was impossible to walk.

A truly charming bookstore. There are so few like it left.
