Kinshasa has no gay bars. We don't list them because they don't exist. We went through every lounge and nightclub that travel aggregators tagged as "gay" and found zero independent sources linking any of them to the LGBTQ+ community. They're off this page.
Same-sex relations are legal in the DR Congo. But police use the public-indecency law to detain people, and there is no legal protection. Queer social life happens at private parties and through organisations like Si Jeunesse Savait, Oasis RD Congo and Jeunialissime. Read the safety section of our Kinshasa guide before going out.
