Hotel Amalga, St. Augustine, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel
Visitors frequently praise the hotel's friendly and attentive staff, particularly mentioning individuals like Jack at valet and bartenders Tracy and Stacy, as well as the clean, well-appointed rooms and convenient location. However, some guests have experienced significant noise issues from the 24/7 weight room above their rooms, and others have expressed dissatisfaction with the rooftop pool area lacking adequate shade.

Friendliest staff of any hotel I have ever been to. Everyone is extremely nice and the hotel is beautiful. Stayed in 416 and loved the room, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The only reason why I am doing 4 stars is because the walls are very very thin. The gym is right above and you can hear everything. Also, if someone is walking or running in the halls, gym etc. You will hear it. The room also shakes a little by the door? Not sure why, thought it was a little odd. Besides that it is a great hotel and we loved it!
The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout. Unfortunately, the experience left something to be desired. I paid extra for a view, but ended up looking at cranes and a bridge under construction. The room was dirty, hair in the bathroom in multiple places, which leads me to believe it wasn’t cleaned properly, if at all. There were also bugs in the room. The pool is more like an oversized hot tub and wasn’t refreshing, even at 8pm. Most of this feels like an upper management issue rather than something the on-site staff can control (besides the cleaning). Again, all staff did everything they could to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Everyone at the Amalga was friendly, helpful and upbeat. From John at the front desk who made sure we had everything we needed and recommendations for sight seeing, Tracy our fabulous mixologist who brought 6 strangers together and were fast friends before the night was over, Courtney always breakfast with a smile and interesting conversation, Rebecca Director of Sales who pitched in when needed and had great suggestions for food and activities. Loved the lobby and bar on the top floor for beautiful views and relaxing ambiance. Great location with easy access and valet parking. A wonderful experience!
We recently stayed at Hotel Amalga for one night to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it was truly the best hotel experience we have ever had. The exceptional service began right at check-in with Myra, who was incredibly patient and kind. After driving down from Charlotte, we arrived after the kitchen had closed. However, Tracy at the bar went out of her way to ask the chef if he could still prepare something for us. He graciously agreed, and the fish and chips he made was one of the best meals we've ever had. Tracy was an absolute angel and a joy to be around. She stayed past her scheduled shift to ensure my friends and I had a special celebration, and her espresso martinis were amazing. She and the chef both went above and beyond for us. Rhonda at the desk was superb as well!! I can say that the experience at the hotel was incredible. It is a memory we will cherish forever. Such an amazing team, and we appreciate everything they did for us. ❤️
From the bartenders to the valet staff, every single person we encountered was outstanding. The service was warm, friendly, and first class from start to finish. A special thank you to John Marshall for going above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We truly felt welcomed and can’t wait to come back!
If I could give more stars I would!!!the customer service of John Marshall was amazing!!!
Great experience overall. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member, and John was exceptionally friendly and helpful during check-in. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed, and I really liked the décor. The only issue was with the valet service on the day of checkout. The valet on our first day was excellent, but the gentleman working on checkout day wasn’t nearly as attentive, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I didn’t want one interaction to take away from an otherwise great stay. The hotel itself was excellent, and I’d gladly stay here again.
