While the rooms were small, it was good for what we needed. Room service was consistent every day, staff was accommodating, valet was quick. However, the price we booked is not the price we got. We booked at $770 and were charged about $120 dollars more than that. When we called to check the price hike, we were told it’s cause the rates changed, but that doesn’t make sense. What we were told should have been what we were charged. While it was a nice hotel, I would rather stay somewhere where I know what I’m paying and don’t get any surprise charges.

I wanted so much for this hotel to be as upscale as it seemed on the website, but unfortunately it never rose above adequate. I did not feel it came close to meeting the over $300 per night price. It is very obviously a historic hotel, which should be part of its charm but only served to highlight how some of the renovations were done nicely- such as the restrooms and others were done on a very tight budget- trim paint, guest room entertainment (tv, connectivity), and amenities. The art in the guest room was horrible, but the wallpaper was bold and fun. But the overall aesthetic was just incongruent and felt like it had a good start but finished cheaply. The lady at the front desk was absolutely amazing. She was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. A perfect ambassador for any hotel. I don’t recall her name but she worked in the morning on June 11 & 12. The restaurant menu was less than we were expecting for a hotel of the expected caliber. That being said, the food we ordered was quite delicious. We did feel the need to eat it in our room rather than in the restaurant which is our normal preference because the bartender didn’t speak a full sentence to us in any of our interactions and it just felt like we were an annoyance to him. It was not at all a welcoming atmosphere. We could not stream on the TV in our room even when connected by usb. This is a standard functionality currently and the lack of it really lent a dated feel to the experience. When we called down to see if the hotel had sundries shop or market for some snacks or sodas we were shocked to find there was none and we were told abruptly that if we wanted anything we should order it from the restaurant. Overall, I feel it was way overpriced for the experience. It was adequate as a hotel.

I want to commend the staff and especially the Manager, Deborah Lofgren ,for her attentiveness with several challenges that occurred during my stay during the week of July 7th, 2025. Ms. Lofgreen handled things in a professional, effective and timely manner. The Churchill near Embassy Row is my preferred hotel to stay during both business and pleasure trips. All the staff under her leadership also are professional and attentive. I can’t wait to return in the future. Warm Regards, Beverly Irby

This is such a nice and quiet place to stay in DC. I was luckily able to check in early so I could rest in the room before an evening event. Not too far from the Red line, just walk over to the Dupont Circle stop. For some reason, Google maps wanted me to take busses, but the metro subway is much more reliable. The King size room had everything I needed for my one night solo trip but I could have easily stayed here with my husband for a longer trip too. I was in town for a show and this hotel gave me the perfect quiet place to chill and sleep before and after the show.
